I think I want a small pit bike. We have four wheelers, sxs and a scooter but want something that is more off road capable than the ruckus. I see some guys post pics of pit bikes and they look pretty cool. I then start poking around and get more of a kid bike vibe from most. Looking at both new and use preferably used. Around 110cc and have a centrifugal clutch so my daughters can drive it. enlighten me arfcom motor heads.... |

The typical Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki 110 IS a kids bike but tons of them are obviously owned, ridden and modified for and by adults of all sizes. My son and I ride motocross and lots of our riding friends have pitbike tracks at their house they ride during the week. Bikes range from STOCK to heavily modified but most are Honda or Kawasaki 110s. We call anything 125 air cooled 4 stroke or smaller a "pitbike" but they are all basically entry level dirt bikes for kids. |
Usually 110s that adults mod for their size and weight with bigger handlebars, fork springs/shocks, taller seat, etc. My son has a CRF110 that I'm going to turn into a Pit bike when he gets a little older. Will be fun for me to ride around too.  All kinds of parts here. |

Wife broke her ankle a couple years back and needed one of those knee scooters. She refuses to get rid of it and it’s taking up room in the shed. I keep telling her I’m going to motorize it if she doesn’t get rid of it. Then this pops up in my feed…..

The shop that fixed it said they sell tons of SSR's and rarely ever see warranty claims, but said SSR is pretty good about honoring them when it happens. |

The term originated as a small bike to ride around the pits at motorcross and supercross tracks. It morphed into a small 50 to 110 bike that’s been modified for a person bigger than the bike was originally designed for. Then pit bike racing and pit bike tracks became a thing. Pit bike tracks were more technical and gear more towards adult and teenager riders compared to a peewee track with safer less technical features. 50s kinda died out and everyone switched to 110s Stock 110 Attached File Modded “Pit bike” Attached File Bigger seat, bigger bars, bigger peg, stiffened suspension, etc |
