I have 3 electrics so just trying to get something fun that inspires me and doesn't overlap my others too badly. I don't really have anything in Les Paul territory in terms of scale and pickup type, and I'm not a fan of anything Les Paul from a playability standpoint except the character of vintage output PAFs. Both of these have caught my eye. I'm not really a Soundgarden fan but just found the Guild Polara Thayil model striking and it has very vintage-y recreations of the Guild HB-1 pickups. The PRS on the other hand just seems like it would give me the Les Paul I would like. Plus, it's beautiful. Neither of these would sit on the stand very long at Rancho Bohemia, both with good reviews. What two can't you decide between? Attached File Attached File |

Neither. But in honesty I cant comment on the guild, but as a PRS fanatic I can tell you the SE models are hot garbage. Ive played a handful of them over the years and they should not be called a PRS. Save up a get a core. |

Wow. I have a low end PRS SE and it is fine. More guitar than most who take it up will ever need for playability, action, etc. And no I am not "poors". I also own about 8 (can't remember) Ron Thorn custom guitars and a Fender Custom Shop strat, Plus some higher end acoustic guitars. I bought the SE on a whim to leave something out in this arid environment I wouldn't cry about if it was damaged by the air or the cats.

Local shops won't have Guild Polaras, the local GC probably has a McCarty with missing knobs that's scratched all to hell. Will likely go to Sweetwater and order, return if it's not all that. |

'Morning everyone... *sip* mmmm... Coffee!!  I couldn't vote because I'm not a fan of either of those. What's up with the cockeyed stopbar on the Guild? The PRS looks nice, but I'm not into Les Paul's or the "look". Give me a Fender any day. Strat or Tele, and I'm happy. |

Same reason everyone besides Fender drills string thru body holes either at an angle or 3+3 staggered/angled rows. |

I've bought 7 SEs in the last 2 years... I just can't bring myself to spend Core money when these get it done at 10% the cost... |
