Damn, that is horrible. Any theory on what happened? Over the last year or two I have found out quite a few people disappear by somehow going off the roadway and into rivers/lkes/whatever. It happens far more than I would have ever expected. My condolences on your loss. ETA; There is a you tube channel, I think it is Adventures with a purpose, they do search/recovery for incidents like this. It is quite sobering to see often it happens. Sometimes the incidents occured years before. |

I ache for the parents. I lost a son 29 years ago. It hurts everyday. I had a drowning experience years ago. I was bounced out of a white water raft. I fought it for a while but ran out of energy and sank. Once I accepted that I was drowning it was rather peaceful. The next thing I know I am being pulled out of the river full of water and a bit blue. I have been deathly afraid of water since. I pray that the end came quickly. None of them deserved a second of fear and panic. |

| That is beyond terrible. was looking at the area on maps. the residential road just ends at the water/boat ramp. never seen a road do that. usually there is a turn and a parking long type deal. odd to just run the street straight into the water. |

Everything looks different at night, vastly different. Fatigue, alone, could explain things. We kind of drive until signs tell us to stop. As signposted as it may seem, at night, tired after a long day, there's nothing overtly telling a driver to stop - nothing reflexive. I live in a state with a lot of lakes and these events are pretty rare but other states it seems to be a lot more common. Not sure what the cause is though. Not sure if it's signage or what. Also our boat ramps rarely go straight in usually you have to make quite a few noticable turns maybe thats by design. Looking at the roads now that I know where that road seems to funnel you right into the water very bad design. Leaving Jonesboro you get on old rte 1 instead of new route 1 taking you straight to her destination. Now on old rte 1 all the roads make nice gentle turns toward the eventual boat ramp. Look at the ramp the dock and ramp should be switched that way you can't go right from a residential area right into the water. Or they need gates at the ramp at night or speed bumps or something to physically show you are going the wrong way hell even a stop sign along that road system to get you to stop if you are lost. |

Just did a street view tour on the road (Roque Bluff/Schoppee Point road). It appears the only signage that the road is about to run into a lake is double “Road Ends” yellow triangles 300ft from the ramp. There really is nothing else down there, the poor lady must have been lost. |
