Have not seen this posted so I will. Many of you who shot the Steel City Tactical Carbine matches at Brock's Gap knew David Tapp, aka DT1 was his arfcom handle. David passed away earlier this week after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
David Tapp Obit I have been in competitive shooting for 30+ years and hands down David was the best match director I have ever worked with. He put in more prep work and cared more about every shooter's experience than anybody I have seen before or since. It was a great privilege to work with him on all those matches over the years, and this is a great loss to the shooting community. Let me suggest that if you knew David or ever shot those carbine matches at Steel City, drop his family a note on that web site or drop Kim a card or note in the mail (you can google their address in Pell City, I won't post it). David was also a man of faith and I look forward to seeing him again in the presence of our Lord. |

| David was every bit as much a gentleman as any man I've ever known. He was also a loving husband and father. When you saw him in the presence of his wife Kim and his daughter you could tell how important they were to him. I knew him for probably 20 years and I can't remember a single time hearing him talk bad about anybody. He was an excellent match director and a serious competitor. I have no doubt if he had started shooting in his younger days he would have been one of the big names on the circuit. He will be sorely missed by many. RIP David |
I agree with para069, never heard David speak an unkind word about anyone. He was a true gentleman. RIP David.

Man I hate to hear this! Had no clue he was fighting for his life. Many of us here spent many of sat in matches this man set up. He was a true gentleman and brought a lot of us here together in this sport we love.
