Tango's St. Paul thread: this morning, I thought of the Lord Jesus Christ's relationship with His disciples who became His Apostles. How Jesus interacted with the different personalities. I thought also about His relationship with others too. Anyhow, I believe that by faith we can know Jesus personally and also share that experience with others. Jesus is who He says He is. I'm open to hear your experience and sentiments. Anyone care to comment or discuss? Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 |

Obviously different in some respects, it's not hard to see there were favorites (Peter, James, John), but all twelve had their roles and played their parts, even Judas Iscariot. And certainly we all have the ability to have a personal relationship as well but it won't be quite the same as we haven't literally sat down with him, embrace him, have face to face dialogue, etc. So both kinda. |

I would say Jesus' relationship with each of the Disciples was no different than a father who has 12 sons. Every relationship is different in some ways, and also the same in some ways. |

I agree that it was different with each. Good analogy above about a father with multiple kids. Each relationship is different even though Dad is the same guy. Jesus meets us where we are and sees through to our heart, including with our good and our flaws. Once we are His, He, the Father and the Holy Spirit begin to sanctify us and continue to love on us as we individually need it. I’ll need help where you won’t and vice versa. Sometimes He will impact you with a still, small voice where He will need to hit me with a spiritual 2x4. I’m grateful that God loves me how I am and that He doesn’t let me stay that way. |

James wasn't an apostle. James (actually named Jacob) was Jesus' half brother, so to speak. We don't hear of James having any involvement until Acts, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a disciple at some point. |
