Not one to rant on here, but this is starting to get ridiculous. I had a 48-hour suspension about a week ago for something I'm still not entirely clear on. I appealed it, but never received a response from @eat_beef. Now I've received another warning apparently for having too many ads on page one, or possibly pages one and two. The problem is, the rules don't clearly state whether that applies to the entire forum or just individual sections. At this point, I feel like I need a law degree (and maybe an accounting degree too) just to understand the guidelines. Honestly, why isn't this built into the system so it prevents it from happening in the first place? I thought it already was. It's 2026 not 1901. I've also taken a couple minutes to look around and found at least two other users doing the same thing I was warned about. So it makes me wonder are there double standards? The 2nd amendment is the first gun law:

I'm not sure with whom you appealed, but I didn't receive a message, nor did I administer the timeout (ban). You were not banned because of that particular warning, but for accumulating 4 warnings. That particular warning was for Rule 13, which states: Do not delete ad text, including prices, or subject lines. Doing so may result in a temporary suspension from the site. Leaving the subject lines and prices intact allows others to search items out and gauge current market value. This seems pretty straightforward for me, and the thousands of other users who are able to avoid this situation, but to spell it out, you deleted the prices from something you sold. Your most recent warning was for having 4 ads on page 1 of used uppers. This rule applies to each subforum. I don't write the rules, and this rule has been unchanged for the 20 years I've been here, and again, thousands of folks are able to avoid spamming ads without further explanation. Should someone need explanation, the rules state to ask a mod. As to your specious argument that there is some sort of double standard, or that "who you know" affects moderation (a clear COC violation), most of the infractions we deal with come from user reports. Some come from our own perusal of the forums. Obviously, we can't see every infraction, and I personally have better things to do than troll the entire EE looking for rule 1 violations. I warned another guy for the exact same infraction this morning because I saw his while looking at yours. I have zero hand in the development of the new EE, so you'll have to speak with @goatboy about there being rules instead of a system that is literally fool proof. |
