Trying to figure this game out....man, it sure seems complicated. I've spend several hours just trying to get my HOTAS One joystick setup up to make the planes work right. I've watched a ton of youtube videos, but overall.....I'm still a little confused. Can someone give me the breakdown on this game? Anything else that's still go fighter planes, and missions to go on....but just isn't so damn complicated? |

I have been playing for about ten years and I use the keyboard. WASD and QE for turn, pitch. I use a mouse with a wheel and use that for throttle. I tried to use a joystick and it was a bigger pain in the ass than it was worth. Left mouse is the default for guns and the space bar for bombs. I would suggest going to Air Arcade and just jumping in. At the bottom levels just about everyone is new to the game so it won't be too bad. Let me know if you have any further questions. |

Same deal here as the first reply, I used a keyboard and mouse, but I almost exclusively do ground battles. As that poster noted, there is a HUGE skill variation, especially on the flight side. Experienced flyers take some real strategy and a bit of luck to shoot down with SPAA's, where I can usually get the inexperienced ones on their first strafing or bombing pass. A good way to sucker the moderately experienced ones is to fire off a burst at a receding aircraft, then immediately retarget on the closing pilot who thinks you're distracted. The more experienced ones will be nap of the earth and you won't see them coming. And BTW, air to ground rockets are either the 4 key or the 5 key, I hate them and sometimes have to cook one off to remember the right key when I do occasionally use them. |
