I have a 5yr old 33lb female mix. Wednesday morning I woke up to her whimpering when I touched around her neck area but didn’t think much of it as we have other dogs and they play so decided to watch her and go from there. Came home from work Wednesday and still the same so started to look at care. Well, Thursday morning at 3 she had sad eyes so took to the Emergency. She has uveitis in both eyes and X-rays showed nothing from the neck down. Friday went back to an ER and she had a 104 temp, same pain area and after bloodwork her white and red cells are fine, little elevated protein and temp did go back down to 100.7. Has a third Dr look at her Sat with no more suggestions and have a regular vet tomorrow. I pinpointed the tender area and it’s right at the base of her esophagus/trachea area in the center of her chest. She struggles at barking and does dry hairball hacks like something is in her throat. No vomiting ect. She eats fine, drink fine, pees, poops and vitals are normal. It’s the pain and hack which happens a few times a day that concerns me and hurts her. She is now on a antibiotic, eye drops, throat coat medicine, and some pain meds. Any ideas or thoughts would be helpful. She stared the medicine Friday evening. Not sure how fast it works. Also she has been tested for heartworm, lime with more lab tests due in tomorrow, for fungi ect.

you're doing all the right things by seeking multiple opinions and starting medication. Since she's hacking and has pain near her throat, it might be worth exploring issues like esophageal inflammation or a tracheal injury with your vet and to buy some meds at canada drugs if u will need
Hi, long history of working with vets. Have learned they might mean well but most times they are not really getting to the issue without making other issues. Maybe check on the internet for natural antibiotics, olive leaf powder, bee propolis, turmeric and curcumin ( in recent studies curcumin has been found to kill only the cancer cells not the healthy cells). Again after many thousand of dollars working with normal vets you might want to look for a vet that says Integrative, uses natural sources and medicines. Medicines have many side affects that do harm. Look for a holistic vet also while you are on the internet look also for natural canine remedies
