This thing. A few bucks, has a magnet to hold the brush . I’m an electrician, gimme a break…just stumbled onto it. Attached File This stuff too. Amazing match to texture, there was a fist sized non textured area before spraying. You have to clean the nozzle if you ever want to use it again. I should’ve opened up the nozzle more for a perfect match. Attached File |

Since I’m flexing my interior finish goods, these things are amazing. I bought the new one, 3M I think…blue plastic. That one sucks. This is probably 30 years old What is it even called? Genius I say. Attached File |

Haha. Drywall finisher here. You should see me do electrical work! The thing in the third picture I just call a hand masker. 3M sells rolls of plastic you can put on them so you can put the plastic up along with the tape. Super time saver for doing knockdown ceilings or general masking. For the canned texture I usually start spraying on a piece of cardboard and bring the can to the wall so it's more consistent. It tends to come out really fast at first then eases up after a second. BTW, I despise canned texture! |

That hand masker is a great thing. I was buying more tape and paper and saw the new 3M version. I try it and the old one is king. One of the drywall guys showed me a trick with mud and a scrub brush that works well. Thin mud, dip the bristles in it and hold it a few inches from the patch. Run your finger tips away from the patch, over the bristles. Bam, orange peel texture. My small project is just part of the big one, I’m painting my whole interior. How would you guys get to this ceiling? 12’ to the peak. I have LVT floors. Thinking rental scaffolding, or is there a compact electric solution? I need to hit the wood trim in the skylights too.
