I have lots of ground venison and fallow deer left over from last year. I cooked a big batch of it and have been feeding my 2 older dachshunds.

We use a higher quality food normally that comes in a loaf. I forget the brand.

They seem to love it and it keeps it from going to waste. Should I be adding anything to it? Do they need any other nutrition?Attached File

How lean is it?

Any potential of adding fat?

Also, any concern about possibly exposing them to CWD?

It is very lean. There is a small amount of fat.

This was from a processor for me to eat so it's fine. It's just getting a little old from being in the freezer.

Venison is great for dogs, I usually shoot an extra one for the pooch to eat.

Ok after a few weeks I noticed they have dropped weight and only poop 1-2 times a day vs 2-3 and much smaller. I think the store bought food had a lot of grain filler in it.
