I was at an evangelical group a little while back where a more established member told me the Pope sits on the throne of Satan. So not just online, but in real life. I would argue that anyone taking pride in separation from Rome has a very poor grasp of the high priestly prayer. EDIT: I think the public is realizing the vast majority of Protestantism just doesn't cut it. American Christianity has become heavily influenced by the consumerist mindset. The Catholic Church (obviously) rejects this, as do both the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox. And the evangelicals don't like it. My previous pastor went after the Catholic Church two Sundays ina row. There is much remodeling to do within Anglicanism, especially since the 1970s. I met our intern priest today. I continue to be optimistic about our future. |
