My wife’s friend’s husband passed away recently. He had a workshop full of tools including this ShopSmith. It comes with what you see, plus lots of chucks, legs to hold a 4x8 sheet of plywood. I have no idea as to value, and I want to give her what it’s worth. I appreciate any help, or recommendations. He also had about 10 sanders, nail guns, planers, dozens of clamps, and many more items.    " />   " />

I see used Shopsmiths all the time on Craigslist and FB Marketplace. They usually go pretty cheap. It's not unusual to see the basic tool offered for $200 or so. The extra attachments add some value but not much. Usually the person selling it just wants to get rid of it. I'd say $500 would be absolutely top dollar for everything you show. $400 would be more like it . . . Yeah, a lot of folks think their Shopsmith is worth what they paid for it and price the things far too high. The $1,000 Shopsmiths you see on Craigslist don't sell. FWIW, I've owned a Shopsmith. I no longer do. The do-it-all concept sounds great but it doesn't really work out that well in practice. You're always tearing the tool apart and reconfiguring it. . . . Or you don't because it's too much a pain in the ass . . . Also, the Shopsmith tool rarely works as well as the stand-alone equivalent tool. |
