Bought a Wavian in the fall. It's nice but I need 10+ containers to replace the shitty Scepter plastic ones that are starting to have issues. Are the VP Racing Fuel jugs good to go or are they prone to leaks/breaking as well? Thanks! |

I bought a 4-pack, and they've been great. Only leaks I've ever had were when I forgot to close the vent. I use them to gas up the boat, mainly. I store them in my garage, and there is no fuel smell. I can't speak to long-term reliability, as mine are only two years old. |

I'm probably going to snag 4 and use them for taking boat fuel to the lake. It'll get me about a half a tank, and beats paying marina prices on on ethanol. Is roughly what we use a weekend anyways. It's nice having a fuel island close to the house that has 87 non ethanol as well. |

Quoted: I have some that are 15+ years old. The spout gets hard on them but they are easily replaceable. Get the plastic piece that bends the hose slightly. I think Thor makes them. |

Scepter makes military cans (MFC's) and civvy (CARB) cans. The Mil-spec ones are solid. The civvy cans are less so. I have no experience with the racing fuel jugs, but it's at this point that I will throw my $0.02 in and tell you that for long-term storage it's pretty tough to beat a NATO-spec can or a MFC (Military Fuel Can, US-issue). They're not super easy to get a hold of, but they aren't impossible. Most of them are marked 'for water use only' to get around the CARB nonsense. For example: https://www.roverparts.com/off-road-accessories/jerry-cans/GJC20K4/ If you get your hands on an MFC, you should change the gasket. It is likely that you have a Diesel gasket in there that will swell (and break the cap) if exposed to gasoline. |

Quoted: What issues? I had some Scepters for many years and they seem solid. Quoted: Quoted: Bought a Wavian in the fall. Quoted: The things I don't like are the vent location and they swell up in the summer. I have to pay too much attention not to spill with that stupid vent. I prefer Justrite safety cans or Jerry cans much more. I don’t have any issues with the vent. You aren’t opening it up fully are you? You just crack the vent cap maybe like 1/2 turn. Full flow zero leakage. Honestly I pour all 5 gal and never once had a leak out of the vent. VP jugs or similar are money. I’m going to replace all of my cans with VP |

for leaks or what? that is alot of money for a fancy metal gas can holder |

You can get the military cans new from buylci which has the water marked version of the fuel cans. They used to offer free shipping over $100. |

The 5 gallon jugs sold by the race fuel companies, Summit, etc, work fine. But in my experience they will get brittle over time (years) and have to be watched or discarded at some point before they break and dump their contents. They may have changed the material since I last used them. |
|
For storage - nope. I bought one to test, not at all vapor tight seals on the main cap or breather, gas will not last in it very long at all. Great for using to dispense gas though, so I fill them and then use to dispense, but not store. Euro made steel jerry cans with good seals will store gas for years; eg https://www.roverparts.com/off-road-accessories/jerry-cans/GJC20K4/ Or www.jerrycan.com |

That is way too expensive for what it is. |

These are better because of the side handle at the bottom. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FBM8T2V/?coliid=I28RGBQAKOUGV9&colid=5L8K3Z6508N3&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it |
