I read that it's a Rd40 x 1/7" NATO standard thread. Is there for sale anywhere a hose+backpack oxygen tank that can be attached to make it positive-pressure rather than using the filter & replacing it after every 8 hours of indoor crowd-breathing?

You could look into Honeywells SCBA for firefighting. And see if you can get something adapted through that.
