I have a young Army Veteran I'm trying to help get back on his feet since being discharged a year or two ago. He had some driving issues back before the Army and has spent the past year trying to clean things up so he can get licensed again. In a nutshell, he had a valid Massachusetts license but it was suspended due to multiple issues in New York State. He was finally able to pay off the last of the fines in New York this spring and tried to restore the MA license when he was in Boston earlier this summer, but New York had not yet reported the issues cleared. He's now back home in AZ and cannot get anyone on the phone in the MA DMV to get this cleared. He can't get an AZ license until the MA suspension is cleared. Anyone have any connections or information regarding MA DMV that could assist? Thank in advance, I'm going to cross-post this in the MA Local board as well. |

Short of getting a lawyer, he most likely needs to fly back to MA and go to the DMV in person to get a MA DL. A friend of mine from MA bought a Toyota Tacoma recently and needs license plates for it. The dealer issued him a 30 day temp tag. That expired and Missouri no longer offers a way to extend a temporary tag. Not wanting to become a Missouri resident, his only choice was to fly back to MA, register the vehicle in person, and get MA license plates for it. Then fly back here to Missouri. Picture your worst nightmare of a DMV, with long lines and disgruntled employees, that's the DMV in Boston, MA. Attached File My local DMV here in Missouri has 6 chairs and 2 nice friendly ladies working the desk. I was just in there a week ago renewing my license plates after being "informed" by a Missouri Highway Patrolman that they were expired (no ticket). I had 2 people in front of me and was in and out of there in about 45 minutes., |

I've had DL in five states and MA DMV is a f*cking nightmare. Nasty ass bitches...every single one of them. Bitch behind the counter tried to have me arrested for asking for a Veteran's license plate. I'm not kidding. I was physically dragged out the door and told I'd be arrested if I ever came back. I asked for a Veteran's plate. Old hag said in a really snide voice, "You have to be a veteran to get a veteran's license plate". All I said was, "I wouldn't ask for one if I wasn't a veteran. Here' my DD214". She threw her arm up in the air and State Troopers immediately went hands on. I showed my DD214 and said all I did was ask for a Veteran's plate, but apparently they had as much disdain and disgust for veterans as she did. I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not. Thinking about it still infuriates me. It happened in Attleboro, MA. |

Devens for 2 years ('86-'88). My high school (Norwood, MA) didn't even allow recruiters in our school. They'd been banned, along with JROTC, since the early 70's. |
