You know if it was a few decades ago when the big 3 built better cars....I'd say it was undercutting but as they build trash now for top dollar and on union wages....ehh If trump hadn't proposed it slotkin would have been all over it And yes if they are paying taxes, hiring our workers, I dont really care |

Plenty of people will pay more for quality…sadly, domestics aren’t offering it…. If cheap, shitty Chinese cars can put them out of business, not sure it’s really a loss…. |

In the rest of the world cars made in China are dominant because cars from other countries can't compete when there is a half to a third price advantage to the consumer. Trump is selling out Americans if he goes forward with this. |

Elon Musk entering China was a betrayal. China was eager for him to set up manufacturing there, not because they wanted his cars, but because he could jumpstart electric car manufacturing for them by creating the ecosystem that supports the manufacturing. BYD and other car companies there will eventually dominate Tesla cars everywhere and Tesla is the only western brand of EVs that have any real volume. “The capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them.” |

Sounds like another South Park episode. Instead of "CITY E-BIKE" it's "CITY E-CAR". For those who have not seen the episode, City E-Bike was run by a Chinese national who sold unsafe low cost Chinese E-bikes to children. When he said the name, came out sounding like "Shitty E-Bike". |

As long they hire Americans and direct manufacturer to consumer like Tesla. Fuck dealerships. It would give GM and Ford a reason to improve quality instead pumping out junk with recalls after recalls. And quit adding unnecessary features. We dont need dash wide screens or electric push button tailgates

Time to get the fed gov out of the auto industry. That includes you too Mr. Trump. I dont want your EPA, NHTSA, or any other gov agency in the business of designing autos or trucks. If China, or any other foreign maker, can reasonably demonstrate that they produce and sell them in an honest and fair market....great. |

Wait til they get here and discover OSHA, EPA, and every other bureau. Then the UAW will get their piece of the pie. |

It's funny how US automakers/dealer think nothing about ''taking off'' 10-15K on the MSRP or offering ''incredible'' incentives or the dealers adding thousands to tens of thousands over MSRP depending on demand or lack of it. Resale on many to most models, a joke IF it makes it past payoff. Meanwhile, Toyota and Honda [for the most part] just keep on selling their mostly slower but more highly sought after rides for around the MSRP prices. Get a couple grand off MSRP and one goes home and dances a happy jig. SINTTIA won at Silao, so there's moemetum. UAW Local 42 Chatt is touted by the Union. Union "job protections", health cost out of pocket cut, the big victory that will pull at other shops, 20% across the board wage increase. "Did you get a 20% cash bump?! We did!!" I see the attraction and know how this works. But yea, Unions are the obvious result of poor management. My college roommate used to quip that all the time. I've never forgotten. |
