According to the Trans Murder Monitoring project, 94% of the 321 identified transgender and gender-diverse people who were murdered [worldwide] in 2023 were transgender women or transgender feminine people, and the majority were Black, women of color, and engaged in sex work. Such disparities suggest the importance of considering intersecting identities in violence research and intervention strategies. A 2009 systematic review of US data found that 33% to 40% of transgender and gender-diverse individuals reported lifetime physical violence, 48% to 67% reported lifetime psychological violence, and 50% reported lifetime sexual violence. Transgender individuals are 2.2 times more likely to experience physical violence from an intimate partner and 2.5 times more likely to experience sexual violence from an intimate partner compared with cisgender individuals. Since Trump has been in office the number of deaths of transgenders has been almost halved. The Human Rights Campaign figures show violent US transgender deaths peaking at 47 in 2021 before falling to 27 in 2025. Still winning!

It's pretty clear that sweeping tranny violence under the rug doesn't do anyone any favors, except perhaps the perpetrators. Having a policy of not simply shutting everyone up who asks relevant questions might actually help the situation. People feel a little more free now to be honest, and to notice things. That may actually be the only thing Trump has accomplished on this. Perhaps there are things being done behind the scenes. Who knows? ETA: Yes, I admit I'm accepting the premise that there has actually been a lowering, which as Mike_314 pointed out, is dubious. |

I used to be a bouncer at Webster Hall nightclub in NYC in the 1990s.. 4-5000 guests a night. The club had very convincing trannies on the payroll (punchcards and everything). We always said, that “if it looks too much like a woman, it probably wasn’t.” Big tits, great hair, lips, etc. They would trick drunken frat boys, and make out with them all night.
