Thanks! My first interest was a $700 import. I came in to ask about it and got a rare unanimous ARF response. I think everything that was said about how bad an idea this would be is compressed into this video. Even better, that initial desire is being compared to the the upgrade I was considering if I didn't find a better/cheaper used one. Seeing everything as he explains comparison points really makes everyone's points hit home. It's a bit long, but if you're torn between cheap and medium-inexpensive hobby lathe options, it's worth checking out. I wound up with a well used 12x36 gunsmith lathe, and I'm happy with it - - but if it hadn't popped up, I think the 10x20 (or bigger 10x30 version) in the video would have made me happy. Well, I'm still cranky about how bad I blew my budget... but the more experience I get the more I understand how unhappy I would have been if I'd have gone with my initial desire.
