I need new tires for 2019 F-150 Raptor. I'm looking for a tire with on-road performance as the main focus while retaining some durability and traction for off road. Current tires are KO2 and are absolute trash on road if there is a hint of moisture. Great otherwise. I would have already purchased the Falken Wildpeak AT3W, however they are done, and the AT4W is even heavier, and gives up some of the AT3's excellent wet pavement traction for supposedly longer tread life. Toyo Open Country A/T III and Nitto Terra Grappler G3 get decent reviews in this space. Most of the reviews I see for Cooper Discoverer, whatever the Goodyear model is, and most anything other than the KO3 is a mixed bag. Due to widespread reporting of the KO3 being a difficult tire to balance, and my personal experience with the KO2 while reading tons of fanboy reviews that tell me that the KO3 (like the KO2 supposedly was) is the best option, is great, is not hard to balance, doesn't have any issues at all, etc., I am not interested in KO3, and due to weight the Falken AT4W is not an option- 14 MPG is bad enough. I know this gets beat to death, however the Wildpeake went off shore toward the end of the AT3W availibility, and with a heavier AT4 with a different compound, Its time to revisit. What "off Road" tires should I look at when my main concern is highway use? |

Wildpeak's AT4W is now 74lbs for 315/70's an only is only the C load range? Ooof.....pass Cleetus just put Terra G3's on his Raptor and side commentary that was in one of his vids was they were quiet and handled great on the Raptor R. They are also E load rated in 315/70 and weigh only 65lbs. I know the G3 is not as good as the G2 was, but my G2's were spectacular. |

Tire Rack Testing using a Tacoma TRD Sport "Nitto's Terra Grappler G3 was actually our test-leader on the wet track by a wide margin and swept every other tire in objective and subjective measurements. It wasn't bad during dry testing either, but struggled significantly during the winter portion and was, both objectively and subjectively, one of our least-favorite tires for those conditions. For an "on-road" tire, its noise management and general comfort could use some work. Still, it was unquestionably a solid performer. " |

I haven't had an issue with my KO2 tires on wet roads, or dry roads, or dirt. My wife's KO2's work really well as winter tires. I'll probably buy another set for my winter wheels. |

I’ve had ko2 for 2/3 tire sets on my previous daily. Really like the appearance and the did well for what “off roading” I did. That mainly consisted of muddy roads around a hunting lease in south west GA and West AL. Last new set was Toyo open country AT3. These were on a 2001 Tacoma 4x4. No traction control, no ABS. The Toyo handled noticeably better in wet asphalt conditions. Less spinning at green lights and less lock ups when hard braking. The guy I use for tires doesn’t like the BFG either. Said they always cup. Recently got a new to me 2020 Tundra and plan the replace the ko2 with something different. Been looking at Open country AT3 but will watch this thread for suggestions. |
| I had the KO2's on my 2023 Raptor. They were garbage. Couldn't get them to balance, warrantied out 3 of them, and those started to get unbalanced as well. Ended up taking them off with around 10k miles, and went with 37" Toyo AT3's. Great tire on wet pavement, and light off-roading so far. They are a bit stiffer, and heavier than OEM, but I have liked them so far. |

I hit some angle iron in the road a few weeks back and mangled one of my tires (they were ready to be replaced anyway). The Ridge Grapplers are gone and replaced with KO3 (35s). They weren’t my first choice but they were what was available without ordering (didn’t want to be stuck in BFE any longer than necessary). I like them so far - no balance issues. My son has Terra Grapplers on his truck and he’s loved them - they’ve held up really well. |

I'm in the same camp on wet traction of the KO2 and KO3. When people rate them high for wet traction, I laugh because they are not good in the wet - at all. My guess is they are better than the other shit tires they had before, and so since it was an upgrade over the other shittier tire, they must be the best and yield a 8.5+++ rating. When I swapped from Pirelli Scopion A/T to Terra Grappler G2's, the wet traction on the G2's was impressive. Then I drove a Tacoma with some Toyo A/T's and I realized the G2's weren;'t just better than the Pirellis, they were basically performing like a touring tire on an SUV, but with enough traction and A/T properties to be passable for most light trail/light off-road tasks. |

I have BFG AT KO3's on my F150. They are ok and seem to be long wearing. No issues with wet roads but I do slow down in the curves. This past winter in the snow I had issues with them going up hill to the road on my driveway. Airing down to 15psi and using 4low did the trick. I think my next set of tires for the F150 (if I keep it) will be Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's.

Big fan of KO2s on my Raptor. Wet traction could be better but is comparable to the other off road tires I've ran on multiple different trucks and my Gen 2 Raptor. I just toss it in 4A when it gets wet and get back to mashing the gas. Would buy another set without a second thought. 1/3 of my driving is off pavement, dirt and gravel roads. Rest is chip and seal highway. Very little in town or on asphalt.   |

I have Mastercraft Courser CXT on my F150. Like them a lot. Wanted a set for my Jeep JKU but couldn’t find the size I wanted in stock anywhere. Not sure if they are discontinuing them or not. Since I couldn’t get the CXT tires for my Jeep, I tried a set of Mastercraft Courser Trail RT. I really like them too. Smooth and quiet for a rough looking tire and they balanced easily. |

KO2s here in a small truck. No issues. Seem to balance fine and are quiet enough. No wet weather issues and I push my tires hard. Not uncommon to get home from going over the pass and have wear halfway up the sidewall from cornering. Pushed the KO2 through a 30mph turn at 70, in the rain in a pickup without ABS or traction control. It was fine. I've recovered and then passed many a larger vehicle or "better equipped" vehicle in the snow. Ran KOs in Moab without anything but ground clearance issues. Guess I'll see how they fair when I'm done adding power. |

I’ve posted this in detail about a dozen times on here.. mickey thompson baja boss AT ride smooth, quiet, tough, last a long time, and better traction wet/dry/mud/sand/ice/snow than anything else mentioned in the thread so far. I’ve had most the top AT tires to compare them to. While my first set of MT BBAT where the smoothest tires I’ve ever owned and 2 of them required NO wt to balance, the last set had 2 tires out of spec and 1 wouldn’t quite balance. -Not to big of a deal though- I just had them both replaced under warranty. If you’re worried about rotating wt, you can get them in 255/85 instead of 315/70. -the 295/70 also has a wider tread width than the ko2 in 315/70…. Edit: and ALL MTBBAT tires are Made in the USA |
| I have those Falkens on my Land Cruiser. They do well on the street and in the rain. I don't love them. They are somewhat noisy as they have aged. I had K02's the last 2 sets before deciding to try something different. I am happy with the Falken M/T's on my FJC . |

I’ve run a few sets of Cooper ST Maxx’s on my Tundra and loved them, but I just tossed a set of Pirelli Scorpions on it yesterday and immediately drove it 300 miles. And I’ll be taking it out onto the sugar and at the beach later today, so I’m curious how they do there.

I know the OP already made a purchase, but I bought a set of General Grabber ATX tires for my 2002 F150 4x4. I don't put many miles on it but they've worked well for me. I bought them based on good testing and reviews from Tire Rack. Very reasonably priced, too. Rob |
