So I am not a watch guy. I have a Garmin and I absolutely love it. Does exactly what I need. However my life has changed. I fought and won a battle at work. Something I have wanted for more than 20 years. Part of that new life will be working in places I cannot bring anything that transmits. So no phone or Garmin. As both something to wear in these places and as a gift to myself I kind of want a doxa. If you see my name you'll understand I'm not interested in any other brand. Either Doxa or nothing. My question is are they even worth the price? I never hear anyone talking about them. Will it last? Is the movement good? Etc. Update: got a 300T. It's awesome. I was worried it would be too big, but it's smaller than I expected and wears amazing. Can't wait to get to my new local and wear it everyday. Thanks again all. |

I've never owned one, but I believe they are good values. They use Swiss movements from Selita. These movements are commonly used in the industry and are essentially bulletproof. If the movement does ever need service, just about any qualified watch shop should be able to handle it and get any parts as needed. The "beads of rice" bracelet is very comfortable. I would vote "yes" to buying. At their current prices, they are good values. |
Screen name checks out!  I've been buying Doxas since shortly after Jenny re-started the brand, so about 20 years. Have had multiple models of the SUB -600T, 750T (Pro, Military Sharkhunter, Sharkhunter, Searambler), and a 1200T. I even owned a vintage 300T Conquistador at one point. Love the style, and was drawn to them because I read all the Dirk Pitt novels as a kid after being introduced to them by my father; so some serious nostalgia going on. I'm a superfan of the old-school look. Right now, I only own a 750T Military Sharkhunter (which I'll never sell) and a 1200T Professional (which I'm considering selling off as I slim down my collection of guns, knives, and watches). All that said, I feel like the current price point for new watches is out of scale with the value for what you get.

I love that they were resurrected and their vintage history and place in the golden age of dive watches. I do not think they are the best bang for the buck in automatic dive watches. Nor even among Swiss automatic dive watches. I’m sticking with just the one I have. You can find a Swiss automatic chronometer rated dive watch NIB for about 1500 bucks. But- Look, it’s what you want. It will be fine. It’s a solid, good choice. We have all gotten something we want that was not the best deal or just because. Just, for the love of God if you don’t rock it on your wrist at least once wearing some side zip dress boots, brown corduroy pants, purple turtleneck shirt, etc. like he described in some of the books- You’re just going to have to change your screen name. |
| Doxa's are great watches, but they are a significant investment if you're not sure you absolutely want one. Why not try a Tactical Frog Sub 300T to be sure you like the wearing experience. You'll spend less than $200 and if you love wearing it and buy the Doxa, you'll have a great beater watch to wear when you don't want to risk damaging your nice watch. The Tactical Frog is a 1-1 homage and will wear almost exactly like the real thing. |

I like them and have heard great things about them aside from their lume. So I went the "poor man's" route since I know Seiko's lumibrite is always on point even down to their cheaper offerings. Cushion case and beads of rice give me very similar vibes without being a clone/knockoff plus I get the lume factor too.   That being said, I still almost kind of want a Doxa, but this definitely scratched the itch quite well. Although to be fair I have heard that Doxa has upped their lume game within the last 2-5 years. |

OP, I had a 1500T for awhile and while I liked it, it was simply too large. Diameter of 45.00 mm x 47.00 mm and 16.25 mm tall. The case size was fine, it wore smaller than it's dimensions, but the height....should have gotten the 1200. Tough getting the 1500 under a dress shirt. Be sure and compare the sizes of Doxa's models to get what you can ultimately live with. My 2 cents. |
