My children (and their parents  ) had a wonderful Christmas this year. When asked what Mr. John's Good Thing was for them ... they agreed it was finally seeing photos of the little boy we are adopting from China. He has special needs, but when we were debating about whether or not we could handle a special needs child --- our youngest son asked us if the baby would be better off having special needs in an orphanage or having special needs in our family.We have a pretty amazing family so that question answered itself. Our children Elijah, Eden, Eve, and Ezra will be welcoming home Ethan John in 2019. Merry Christmas, John and Karla. May God bless you on this day and every day. May you find light in the darkest corners, a smile through the tears, and calm waters in the middle of this hurricane. |

Thinking of you both on this Christmas day. May peace and comfort come to you both. John, please know you have made a difference in a lot of lives and left a mark on us all here, one that won’t buff out! Good morning from Ohio John and Karla. It's a beautiful, crisp morning here. I'm picking up my dog from the kennel. The sun is shining and sparkling off the frost on the cut down corn stalks in the fields. I hope today is peaceful for you both.

Checking in this rainy, blustery...yet beautiful morning here in northeast PA.
Lynn and I went to see the WWI documentary "They Shall Not Be Forgotten" yesterday - amazing what they were able to do with the old war footage. Well worth seeing. Then we visited the college where I'm president - we host an annual local HS basketball tournament but also, for the first time, gave people a tour of our new eSports facility where they could interact with our coaches and team, and spend some time on the high-end Alienware computers we have in the arena. We're something about one of 120 colleges and universities that currently host teams. Should be a quiet day here today - still, filled with goodness and prayers for John and Karla. Still here for you. |

I ‘m sad to report John passed away on Christmas. He was in no pain and went peacefully surrounded by family and friends. I knew it was coming but when it did I was overwhelmed with grief. I am still numb. I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year, and like we’ve all heard the last couple of months “ find some good in the day “. Karla |

Karla My mother in law was like John, she only saw the good in everything & everybody. As sick as she also was with cancer she actually took pleasure believing she was so much better off than she might have been. She loved this time of year & loved Christmas as much as any little kid ever did. She especially enjoyed being with family during the holidays. She also passed on Christmas Day fifteen years ago, surrounded by those that loved her. Some mistakenly think that a death on Christmas will make it sad day in the future. We’ve come to believe otherwise. It’s the day she received the ultimate gift. Released from all the pain & suffering to be reunited with those she’d missed for so long. I’d had a feeling this might be the case for John. He deserved that gift as much as anyone ever could. Thoughts & prayers will continue to be with you, now & every Christmas to come... |
