I saw a city council video on Youtube TV, in it a councilwoman  says De-Tool the police is a part of the Defund the Police Crowd. Then she espoused how wonderful the power of Flock is.

She alludes that if you are against Flock, you are bad people.

If I see it again, I will provide a link.

Council people are the epitome of phony tough. They bullshit there way in and have the police there to do their dirty work when someone questions them. Just like every other piece of shit politician. Local, state, federal.

Sounds just like the Nazis. If you don't support the Nazis, you support lawlessness, unsafe communities, and the decline of the nation. Replace 'Nazis' with 'Flock/ALPRS' and it's a match.

That's been the authoritarian mantra forever.

I've been getting called an anarchist by the Right for almost my entire life.  While the Left has been calling me a Fascist for just as long.  Which suits me just fine.  Reassuring, honestly.

Holy false equivalency Batman!

Way to gloss over the fact that Flock and other ALPR cameras are only being targeted by the hoi polloi because of the unchecked abuse those devices enable the pinche chota to do.
If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

You are so right. Local Police use of Flock is a Red Herring.
No telling which Countries, Corporations or Cartels are monitoring the Flock Data.

How Flock is Actually Hurting Law Enforcement
Yesterday 11:49:33 AM EDT
[Last Edit: pukindog][Edited] [#20]
I would rather see my local law enforcement put the same money into more officers or more patrol cars.

To hell with this lazy method of policing.

You know what deters crime? Officer visibility.  If your local police have many cars on patrol during a shift, people who want to knock over a liquor store are not going to do it if they see a lot of cops in town and know they will get caught.

A few decades ago both the police chief and sheriif here decided to put every patrol officer in their own cars and have him/her take that vehicle home. That way you have patrol cars in residential neioghborhoods.

We had repeated icidents on the street where I live, where the college-age kids who lived in apartments on the opposite end of the street from me, woud turn into the road on sport bikes and open the throttle violently, easily doubling or tripling the 30 mph limit.

I think their main goal was to impress some teenage girls who spent time in the front yard in the summer. However, there where also little children in those yards, and them chasing a ball or something into the road was not uncommon.  I always told my friends it would be a tragedy if the biker boys hit one of those kids, because most riders don't know jack shit about how to use the brakes effectively . Fortunately that never happened.

From what I have seen, crime has reduced drastically in the 30+ years I have lived here. There were other policy changes as well, but I think letting the officer take their cars home was a big part of that.

That bike speeding shit on my street came to a sudden stop after a sherff's deputy moved in one of the houses across the street. His patrol car is very visible in the driveway.

There are ways to reduce crime. But Flock is just a system that acts like everyone is guilty and it it's up to individuals to prove their innocence.

If I edited the post above it's more than likely because I suck at typing. If I didn't, I was either in too big of a hurry or just missed it.

You know what deters even more crime?
Aggressively prosecuting crimes instead of reducing the definition of crimes because that reduces your crime rate in your city/state.
Not ignoring crime just because the criminals are a PoC.
Not releasing criminals back to the streets a couple hours after arrest.
Always blame autocorrect.

If the data is being used responsibly and only to resolve crimes, that's fine.  Abuse such as harassment and stalking, not so much.  Flock is a private company who gathers and sells data for it's customers, regardless who they are.  There's a couple of gated communities near me who put up Flock cameras watching their residents.

Flock Offers Employees Buyouts as Customers Flee

Flock Safety announced a voluntary employee separation program on Friday, offering a “generous” severance package to those who want to leave amid growing backlash against the surveillance technology company, according to an internal email shared with WIRED.

Applications for Flock’s voluntary severance program opened Friday, and employees have until October 2 to decide whether to leave the company. Flock expects to grant buyouts to the majority of workers who apply, according to the email. People familiar with the program but not authorized to discuss it publicly say they believe that a significant number of the startup’s roughly 1,500 employees may try to depart.
