I have a story of caution about procrastination. Many years ago, I received an email or an IM from Steve asking if I was a certain person; he nailed it, I was stunned, and I didn't reply because I could come up with no reason he would know me from the Air Force, school, or work. But I held on to that, thinking I would contact him one day to find out. I'll never know. |

As this settles in for me....having seen a few long time members recently pass, when a guy like Steve goes to the great beyond I feel like a part of the this community dies and goes dark. ARFCOM just got smaller. Steve was one of those guys who was a part of the foundation of this site. His contributions to our discussions in the earlier years of the site went a long way in setting the tone and establishing the culture. In so many ways, we are the online community we are because of guys like Steve. While he wasn't a moderator (that I recall) his comments often seemed to guide the tenor of our conversations. At times he was the voice of reason....and at others, a needed call to action. I never knew the man, aside from his posts...yet this feels like a very dark day to me. Sounds like many of you knew him personally. You are all in my prayers, as are his family and loved ones. RIP brother....you are missed more than you might have realized.  |
