That last part is why he can't find any "New" content since everything has been at least mentioned and some described but not with humor and no with the attempted debunk and presented in a fun way. Hundreds of thousands of people trying to break into a fan group on youtube in just the past decade have covered everything, but sometimes you need to follow a trail blazed by somebody else, just don't repeat what they said word for word, do something different with it, lithte debunk and what options there are and if it's viable or not. That is what made it interesting, not the fish. To me, it seems he built the new studio and is now just coasting, he's not even consistent with compilation releases and he's really expecting a LOT from people to stay with him, but I un-subscribed while you're thinking about dumping patreon. I would guess there's more than 10% with the same intentions. He started out great, then missed a couple episodes, then went to where an episode a month was the norm and now we get recycled content each month and him doing a "standard old school" episode maybe once every 3 months. If he thinks he's made enough money and doesn't need to work to keep followers loyal, then he should for sure keep running his channel the way it has been for the past 6-12 months or more. I personally believe he's bored and burnt out, but excuses don't matter. You never see traditional TV shows re-scheduled because the star of the show is bored with it, and it doesn't fly on YouTube unless it is legit medical issue which I understand, but he's had medical issues for several years and I know people with terminal cancer and only waiting to die that have more drive to share stories than AJ of late. He has plundered through taking the subscribers for granted and has staff researching and rendering the episodes so all he needs to do is read the teleprompter and then the people he hired can do the editing and rendering to youtube format for him to review and then they post it. Maybe that's why he's downhill, he has a larger team now and really does think he can skate by reading 10 minutes of intros for compilations or something. It was SO much better in his first few years, when he was a one man/wife show. Now he has everything needed to make killer episodes, including fan content suggestions, teams to research and do all the editing, pro audio/visual studio and computers with several latest gen nVidia cards to edit super realtime fast, and he still can't seem to care, so it's just sad. There's thousands of youtube influencers who'd trade their kidneys and maybe a limb to have the subscribers and patreons he has and here's AJ, just pissing it all away - just my honest and uncensored opinion (and you don't even need to have Patreon to read it!). @Kagetora Would you like to make a thread for that channel? I can try posting the new videos but if you know some of the better ones you can kick start with nice stuff and I'll tag thread non-archive and monitor like this thread to keep it sane and alive. |

Perhaps AJ needs to read this thread because all of us, even I, supported him and defended him (though I didn't stay as long as Kagetora). Jumping to long format interviews isn't what people want, it's short stories like he used to do in 20-30 minutes with the details and then the debunk attempt. Now he's still finishing ads and sponsor plugs for 10 minutes and at the 30 minute make you only have an idea of what's going on instead already knowing the full story with the facts to hear the debunk. It's now sloppy (not all info known added and seems rushed though it is an hour or more of stuff and I'm switching to people who don't follow the "influencer bandwagon" that are still putting out their normal length videos of 10-40 minutes and that's where my traffic and I bet a lot of other traffic is also headed. Not doing the long format shit, sorry youtube you can't twist people by saying They'll promote them more if they make videos the way YouTube wants to so they can hijack in their own opinions and demonetize/not promote people who tell the truth about Evil Google bullshit like long interviews and only cover certain topics in the way the MSM does. I'd guess that a not-small percentage of people are still following and patreon supporting AJ from the sunk cost fallacy, hoping he'll get back. Not sure if he developed a coke habit or what but if he don't care I sure don't and if it doesn't get better. Worse case is we will have room for a different thread to tack as no archive. There's guys like smarter every day that find content and have kept a huge audience for years with only a few "called in sick" missed episodes compared to how many he puts out. Then there's youtube algorithms and minute physics, which used to be 1-2 minutes, but now a short one is still over 10 minutes. I just don't care that much since it covers cram I am already aware of and then there's the whole deal with most of them being on the left side of political spectrum, at least out loud, to get their channel supported and they follow along like good little puppies because there's a shitload of millionaires from just posting stupid shit and getting paid. Same with tiktok and similar platforms where the goal seems to have the entire globe share the exact same sense of humor/sense of duty/sense of stupidity targeted toward the 2 digit IQ types (same demographic half of old school TV news and sitcoms mostly targeted with some other content but things like Firefly aren't given a chance because the execs themselves don't understand the value of a captive returning audience). Today they grasp the captive audience part, then make Game of Thrones with more BS and then make all other shows similar to that. Sorry for the rant, I didn't/don't watch or have a TV and haven't since I was in the same room in like early 80s when my dad watched Gunsmoke while I used a different TV to play with computers (Atari 1200xl then Commodore 64 then Atari again once I got a C compiler then Commodore since I found a compiler for it and both have the same CPU, just different chipsets for sound and graphics, so been a geek too much to watch TV so I'm defective.  (Love Atari but will admit I prefer commodore keyboard). Every time I try to see what all the fuss is about via torrent, I really regret wasting the bandwidth. The Wire and Breaking Bad were Ok, but those were targeting the simmering hot head demographic or something. Therefore the " you can't judge because didn't follow all the soap opera themes and sink thousands of hours into sitting on your ass so you just don't understand". |
