Right now we even have a couple of real 73 2.7RS cars at the shop. Just hesitant of posting pictures or giving out too much information because I don't want to dox myself or have owners finding out their cars are being shown off on a random gun forum. Both the RS cars have unique colors too so it's easy to track down the owners. |

i havent read 150+ pages and maybe im late to the party, but ive always wanted a 911. You guys all know way more than me, but it seems like a 997.1 is what im after: i like that styling, hydraulic steering, fewer electronic gizmos (im simplifying this, im sure). Seems like everyone else wants a 997.1 manual coupe car as well. Ive got older muscle cars,nothing like this. Whats the best way to go look at these cars, find these cars that arent beat to hell? thanks! |

Short answer is get a full PPI from a good independent shop (especially if you can find one that specializes in Porsches). A good service history is more important than mileage and number of owners imho. Before I bought my 987, I was looking at 997s and 991s. I honestly prefer the 05-08 years most for exactly the reasons you said. They are also the most beautiful (to me). The 996 is also a great car and has a serviceable IMS bearing without having to disassemble the engine. This would allow you to more easily take advantage of LN engineering's IMS Solution if you are concerned about it. The 997.1 through model year 2008 has a larger non-servicable IMS bearing and has a nearly non-existant failure rate but it is not zero. Again, service history and owner records are valuable. There are numerous articles and videos out there that can provide you with far more expertise than I can with my limited knowledge. Good luck with your hunt. Keep us posted please ETA, reading the 150+ page thread isn't a bad use of your time though it is more entertaining and interesting than educational. Check out the forums on rennlist and for the 997 specifically check out this subforum here . The forums at planet 9 are another good place for a wealth of information and expertise. Tnanks for the reply! I find myself digging a little more each day, trying to learn about these cars and Ill definitely do a PPI or whatever I am seriously considering. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but in my mind, I'm at the point where I want to see some cars, especially if they are for sale. Seems like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack and the haystack is crawling with other guys doing the same. I'm ok with that. I'm looking for another car, going on 2 years. Do North Texas dealers locate these cars or take them in on trade? I figure buying through them would command a premium ;rice. Are there local cars & coffees with cars for sale? Or, are all of you guys actively flying around the country on the hunt? Watching BaT or other sites? I'm a patient guy, but these Porsches aren't 60s muscle cars, so I just want to make sure I've got a good search logic and timeline expectations. thanks again! |

If by north Texas you are in or around the panhandle area, you will not find much luck as there is simply a lower quantity to find. Oklahoma City or the DFW area are probably where you should be looking as far as local goes; perhaps a 3-4 hour driving radius. BaT is a great site as is the Rennlist marketplace. Autotrader is good to check as well. Some people have enjoyed flying out to pick their car up and driving it back home for a memorable experience. Others have had them shipped. Good luck |

Is there a Porsche wave? I mean, kinda like the Jeep wave, but maybe with way less ducks? I read in one of the car forums that such exists, and son of a gun a stranger in another Cayenne gave me a wave yesterday at the shopping center. So do you wave to other Porsche drivers when you are out and about? Or maybe to drivers of other examples of your model of Porsche? |

There doesn’t seem to be anything official but to a small degree there does seem to be an acknowledgment between owners. There is also the reality that the Porsche Club of America is the largest car club in the world. So there is definitely a strong culture and enthusiasm. |

Boy am I now convinced there truly is no substitute, performance-wise and technology-wise. The other night I was running some errands in town, and at one point the Cayenne somehow detected that a dumb ass kid dressed in all black on an ebike was traveling on the edge of my lane about twenty five yards ahead of me. As I approached it gave a warning chime and automatically turned on the night vision thingy, pinpointing exactly where the idiot was in the lane. And it did it all super smooth and seamlessly. "Impressed" doesn't even begin to fully describe how I feel about the performance.

I think Mblades really nailed it above, as the sedan and suv drivers are not typically enthusiasts. It is likely just a car to them. Mine doesn't spin but it is color matched to the car. It's a retired Hot Wheels fob I found on Ebay.

It’s history, it’s style, it’s performance. It focuses people a bit more on the cars than the flex. Every group where you can spend money at different levels will have a level of dick measuring. It’s inevitable. With Porsche guys doing Porsche things, it’s somewhat less than average. Thats a good thing. You will see the highest level of flexing at the “all cars” events. |

Just sold my 911 on Bring a Trailer. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2019-porsche-911-carrera-gts-coupe-34/ Here's hoping everything goes smoothly with payment & transport. I'm pretty happy with the price. I think that, given the right buyer, it could definitely have sold for more - but when I originally started planning to sell it about six months ago, I figured anything over $100k would be great. So I am definitely not complaining! Paying $20k to drive an awesome car like that for seven and a half years seems like a bargain! My wife traded her 2022 Macan S a few months ago towards a new Landcruiser (which we are taking to Hawaii with us), so for the first time in a long time, we do not own any Porsches.
