If you're an NRA voting member, your ballot for the NRA election is now arriving in the February issue of your NRA magazine. This year's election is especially important because, now that the New York Attorney General's attempt to put NRA out of business has failed, we must now direct our energy and efforts to rebuilding and strengthening NRA. How we do this, and under what leadership, will determine how quickly we can restore and regain our unified strength for our mission, our members, our donors, and indeed for our country. Our team has the knowledge, skills and experience to guide NRA though this challenging transition period to a strong financial and political resurgence. We are: Bob Barr, Sharon Callan, Larry E. Craig, Isaac Demarest, Lawrence Finder, Jeff Fleetham, Carol Frampton, Joel Friedman, Sandra S. Froman, Tom King, Charles Rowe, Ronald L. Schmeits, John C. Sigler, Danny Stowers, Dwight D. Van Horn and Blaine Wade We're a group of concerned Second Amendment activists, attorneys, former members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S Senate, business executives, financial experts, distinguished competitive shooters and respected law enforcement leaders. We're running for the NRA Board of Directors because we're very concerned about the future of NRA and the Second Amendment. Many of our team participated in the reform of NRA's financial operations, putting in place robust accounting oversight controls to protect NRA's finances, many of which were specifically endorsed by the Judge in the New York case. Under our leadership, new NRA committees were appointed to oversee the financial operations of the NRA. Now, we must direct our efforts to rebuilding and strengthening NRA. Each member of our team brings a solid record of accomplishment. One of our team initiated the landmark lawsuit, NYSRPA v Bruen, which resulted in the US Supreme Court upholding the right to carry and ruling that the New York law restricting concealed carry permits was unconstitutional. Other members of our team have been responsible for landmark pro-2nd Amendment decisions in state and federal courts. Our team includes former legislators and law enforcement leaders who have considerable experience promoting pro-Second Amendment legislation and opposing anti-gun laws. Still other team members who come from business and banking backgrounds will provide valuable oversight for NRA financial and budgetary policies. Our team also includes an International Distinguished Rifleman and a Police Pistol Champion. These team members are strongly committed to the expansion of the many NRA training and shooting programs that benefit all NRA members. I personally know Phil Gray and Dave Mitten on the ballot. Both are great guys and run one of the local FRNA chapters. Phil used to be one of the senior executives and ran the FRNA. He got tired of Wayne's shenanigans and tried to fight them, and eventually quit his job over it. At the FRNA banquets, he always puts alot of his own money buying tickets for the raffles and then handing them out to the kids in the audience hoping they win. Dave is the president of one of the local FRNA committees and puts a lot of time and effort into running things well. He was also outspoken against Wayne and the former NRA leaders. They would both be excellent in moving the NRA in the right direction. |

I said this in the GD thread as well but the site in the OP is run by the people who ruined the NRA. You almost certainly want avoid anyone on the Strong NRA list. Go with Jeff Knox's endorsements and Elect A New NRA. |

Okay, yeah, fine, we got it. WLP is gone (thank God!), but the damage done was horrific, and um... certain board members... are still there with (arguably) the same mindset!!  CLEAN HOUSE, NRA!!! NRA's New York trial has ended recently. The trial judge made it clear that all parties who were involved in the financial misconduct at NRA have been banned from working at NRA for the next ten years. The trial judge recognized the many financial reforms made by the NRA Board of Directors over the past several years and indicated that he approved the reforms that are currently in place at NRA. In his Final Judgement the trial judge adopted, nearly verbatim the NRA Board's proposals for additional reforms. The judge is satisfied with the reforms that the NRA Board has made and the case has now been concluded. Donate to your local 2A organizations before the national orgs. The local orgs are proactive and get things done in your state house where the nationals are reactive and try to fix things after the fact and from a distance.

I spent over an hour last night filling out my ballot (the wife's looks suspiciously like mine  )I crossed out the bios of anyone on the "Strong and Effective NRA" ad. Even if they weren't part of Wayne's World, I figure guilt by association. These folks want to maintain status quo. Next I crossed out the bios of anyone who voted to retain the SLC. After that I went through the "Elect a New NRA" and Jeff Knox' recommendations/ thoughts, read each bio and candidate statement, and voted accordingly. Some of those didn't get my vote simply because even though they "may have seen the light," there are others with less baggage who can also do the job. I know it's a PITA to take the time to do this, but this is OUR association, and we have an opportunity to take it back. It's that important to me, that I'd take that much time. I hope it is with you, too. |
