I've read every post. I want to thank all of you for the thoughts and prayers. The phone calls and texts. It means a lot to me. I have an amazing group of friends and family. Both out in the world and here. This has been the hardest thing I've ever been through. I've cried, screamed out in agony and at time it feels like my heart is going to explode. I'm beyond grateful for the time I had with her even if it was way shorter than what I wanted it to be. She was an amazing woman and our love was so strong. The kids and grandkids have been holding me together. Those little ones can fill up my hurting soul with joy. |

This has caused me to feel even more grateful for my wife of 40 years. We had a disabled daughter 29 years ago, we lost our son to the war in Afghanistan, and through those things, and everything else in life, she's been my rock. I cannot imagine losing her. My heart bleeds for you in what you're going through. You'll be in my prayers, Bamashooter. |

After you have been around a few widows, you just learn to spot them from the way they act - they might as well be wearing a campaign ribbon. People act differently who have been through life's trials. It's probably the same for men, just shows differently. You will likely be able to spot it yourself and offer what you can, when you can, in a way others haven't who haven't been throug it.   Still praying for you and yours, Bama-Shooter. |

Easier said than done, but try not to focus on the end. Remember the good days, even the boring, uneventful days. Share those memories with your children. Doing so may bring tears, but it will bring smiles also. Not many are fortunate enough to find their soul mate. In this moment, I'm sure it's hard to think of yourself as lucky, but from what has been shared here, I'd say you were blessed. At times like this, it's easy to be bitter, but when that wears off, be sure to thank God for all the blessings in your life. Cherish the memories you made together, but live the rest of your life as you know she would want you to. I wish you well. |
