This 1971 Charger is a father son project for my 13 year old and I. He loves Mopars (as do I) and we picked up this 71 L code 383 car. Plan is to put it back to its original GY8 gold exterior and gold bench interior. We've been slowly chipping away at body work. We have quite a bit of work ahead of us and I'll try to keep it updated as we go. Attached File Attached File |

Damn. Need another son? I'm only 58.  Good friend in high school had that same car. He put one of those big Moroso "mailbox" hood scoops on it and painted it black and had huge ass tires on the back. It looked awesome. He had a Maaco paint job on it after his Dad prepped it. It looked really good for Maaco. I won $5 from him when he tried to bet me I couldn't get the lug nut off of the driver side wheel. Sucker. My brother had a '71 Roadrunner. I knew the trick. |

Fantastic project..  my son wasn't interested in cars (gamer) until I bought him his first car..and no, it wasn't as cool as yours. lol I went the econo , ultra reliable 4 door route. I've been supervising him when he does tire changes, tune up's,etc. Even if that is as involved as he gets he knows now how much money he can save himself. I set your thread so it won't archive for you. Keep the updates coming.. |

When my son was coming along and still at home, I owned and ran a BMW repair shop. Never could get him interested ( the old play station etc bs) fast forward to age 30 and he buys an 09 335i... then he tells me " Dad, I wished I hadn't been so difficult growing up and spent some time out at the shop with you" as we are tearing his 335 apart...I said, it would have been easier with the simpler cars of the 80's-90's as well.. Good for you, sir, Dad of the year and a son that has an interest |

We haven't got much done but I did get a new front lower valance from AMD as well as some small parts. I have to pull the windshield to fix some rust but it's not terrible. We picked up a 360 and a 727 for it too. I'm currently switching to the Olds to rebuild the suspension and put new tires on ahead of Goodguys in July.
