(SPOILERS)
Well I finally broke down and watched Terminator Dark Fate, I had heard that it was a Virtue signaling, SJW masturbating, POS (and to some degree it was, but not the the degree that I was lead to believe). It had plenty of good action scenes, lots of tributes to the source material and was overall an enjoyable flick. One thing that did bother me is that it does crap all over Terminator 2: Judgement day, that is probably my biggest problem with it. The whole movie could have been fine if John Conner continued to be the savior of humanity instead of killing him off five minutes in and replacing him with a Hispanic woman who essentially does what he was meant to do in the older films (hence my comment about virtue signalling). Keep in mind this movie was made during the time when Trump's wall and illegal immigration were in the media a lot and Hollywood thought they would cash in on that but I guess it didnt work as the opening weekend was a financial disaster, the box office sales figures were initially horrible. The trans girl that is augmented with Terminator Tech didn't really bother me as they don't dwell on her gender too much. It was no accident that the "strong" character that protects the future leader of the resistance is now a woman but I digress. My overall impression is that it isn't the worst entry in the terminator franchise (Salvation was worse) but it does have issues that keep it from being a great entry (mostly being disrespectful of the ending of Terminator 2 and cramming the immigration debate down our throats). It's worth a watch if you enjoyed the earlier movies. Poll for those who have seen it inbound. Let's see what the GD consensus is. ETA: for the boomers RETCON means when you ruin an older movie by giving the audience more information in a sequel that alters the original interpretation of the original film. It's a lazy story telling mechanism that Hollywood has become very prone to using lately, especially with older well established franchises such as Ghost busters, Star Wars, Terminator, etc. |

It had some good scenes but the concept of Arnold the Terminator wanting to settle down and have a family after smoking the kid was beyond ridiculous...comical. |

I liked it, but to be honest I also didn't really hate T3, Salvation, or Genesys
I also thought the "SJW outrage" was way overblown. No one cries about T2 being a "girl power" movie, but if it came out now everyone would lose their shit over shit. |

| I could not watch. Did not want to watch. Read some "it was not that bad" responses so I tried. Linda Hamilton looked like she did not want to be there and seemed to be reading her lines monotonously from a teleprompter in the background. So I finally gave up after about 30 minutes with no Regrats. |

All that saving and fighting in T1 to save Sarah, then all the kickassness in the T2 to save Jon, and 30 seconds into this and a Terminator just walks up to Jon with a shotgun. Really? |

Quoted:
Yeah, that is my biggest gripe, not a good marketing move on the directors part. Now it's open season, any franchise can have main characters killed off in the sequel and new characters steal their thunder......so they can do the exact same thing the original characters did in the original movie........ Quoted: You're missing the point, skynet killed itself when it killed john connor, that's why we have legion now instead of skynet. You also missed the point when the T-800 said the future he was from skynet failed, the future he was from connor was dead. |

Does Linda Hamilton smoke or have a drinking problem? She looks worse than the old German lady across the street that smoked two packs a day. |

Actually I liked Salvation. The reverse Terminator was dumb. It should have just been the Future War. The tall blonde girl was in Halt and Catch Fire and she is 6 foot tall. Seeing her almost naked was great. My thing is killing John Connor. We spent 2 hours on a helluva ride to learn about humanity with him... And they spend millions of dollars to make it look JUST LIKE 1991 Ed Furlong and shoot him in the chest with 00 Buck. Killing Newt was a dick move but at least she died in a crash. Like Alien3 sorta made sense. Burke talked about sabotage and it happened. Me personally, I like the old comics with old man Hicks and adult Newt. That said...there was no reason to just kill John Connor like that. I mean...they could’ve targeted him as a young adult like early 20s I could sorta deal with it but shooting a 12 year old in the chest took me out of it. Then the sexless robot marriage. The Illegal alien jackoff fantasy and the Rev 9 was lame. Seriously he was lame. T-1000 looked sharp and human enough to be convincing but also robotic enough to be creepy. His gestures and fluid way he walked. I was lucky enough to see it before the trailers spoiled it and thought he was a good guy because he was smaller and a policeman and talked normal. Then the first encounter and it blew my mind. I saw it with my old man. I remember asking him why they called it a minigun. He explained it was on Huey Gunships. And explained the bloop gun to me. It was a ride. Rev 9 just...no. Let it be. I have T1 and T2 and Salvation and I’m good. |

Quoted: Just listen to Dave Chappelle and he's only in his 40s. Like up until 25 people thought I was a woman on the phone. And even when I try to “butch up” I still don’t have a deep voice. Still need to quit though |

I watched this crap the other day. What pissed me off the most was how they made Sarah into a confused, rambling lunatic. When she told the young gal that they were after her womb, and the tranny corrected her and said, no they were after lil miss Mexico herself. She's the new leader. Sarah Conner was the hardcore, pissed off alpha bitch that knew how to take care of business. This movie put her on the back burner so diversity could save the day. The "enhanced" tranny was no match for any model terminator, so what good was it? It was bad enough in T2, and beyond, where old tech Arnie was trying to help against the new liquid machines, etc. In this movie, we have "Butch" Cassidy and the Suntan kid taking on a frickin machine that could do all sorts of crazy stuff. And what do they have? Guns.... that do nothing to terminators except slow them down for .87 seconds. The whole movie was a horrible rehash of earlier versions. Arnie having a family was over the top. I love scifi and I love the terminator series, even the bad movies. But this is beyond bad. I can't see myself watching this one again ever. Like Matrix 2 and 3, it just won't exist to me. |

That killed it for me too. I felt like T2 deserved more respect than that, with its impact in the series and films overall really. That John Connor got waxed in like the opening ten minutes or whatever was a real buzz kill for me and I honestly lost interest in the film overall after that. Salvation was OK (better than T3 and Genisys) but IMO the biggest missed opportunity for the franchise. Should have been more inline with what Reese described in T1 and battles like the opener in T2. Could have made a whole trilogy on post Judgement day war based on just a few lines Reese muttered in T1 First movie-immediately post-nukes. Best to follow a small group of people (regular folks, no clue about skynet-maybe like Reese as a teenager) whom are like WTF just happened. Trying to figure out what and why the bombs dropped, trying to survive. Act 2- robots appear, start capturing and enslaving survivors. group is captured and processed for work or extermination in camps. Act 3-they fight and escape (or other humans attack camp to free prisoners). 1st semblance of the resistance. John Connor emerges as leading them (in act 2 or 3) 2nd movie-Resistance grows, start organizing attacks, small guerrilla then larger battles-scoring wins (all against old terminators/HK). End of act 1 new terminators appears (the T-800) and they use new energy based weapons (40 watt range anyone) and resistance now getting their ass kicked cause conventional small arms they have are useless. Also resistance cells are getting infiltrated and wiped out (due to t-800 101 models, but resistance doesn't know that). Act 2 dealing with figuring how to defeat the new T-800 (tactics, captured weapons/reverse engineer) and figuring out what is wiping out those cells. Then big reveal about the 101 model. Humans find way to early warning detect them and defeat them with their new weapons, humans go back on offensive. 3rd movie-resistance gets 2nd wind. bigger wins, now going on offensive against skynet installations like factories or places where they get raw materials. they start capturing 101's and get intel about them. Act 3 final big battle against skynet HQ, they win but not before Skynet sends back Arnold. John sends back Reese. The end (throw some easter eggs in there-throw away line about successful reprogramming of a T-800 101, maybe in background a vat that contains the liquid metal for the T-1000, etc) |

I never picked up on Grace being trans or LGBT. Was I not paying attention? I watched for the first time Sunday night.
Tried to find all the SJW stuff I had heard about, just didn't see it. Plot of the movie is intertwined with fate vs alternate and changing timelines due to future interference. The new "leader" is Mexican and female. So what. The Terminator sent back to kill her is also Mexican-ish. They are Terminators. They are supposed to blend in. Should he have been Chinese instead? The Grace character has muscles and a short haircut. She is a soldier in an apocalyptic future. Make-up and fashion is not a priority. The bad guy shot up an ICE facility. It was integral to the plot. So what. Some of y'all need to stop being snowflakes and lighten the fuck up. |

So they always take something that fans all like, break it , give it back and then they are surprised that we're all pissed off. By the way, the 1st Terminator movie is one of my all time favorites. The story was 100% complete. Everything that came after it was pointless to me. But I did like T3. I thought it was a good attempt to wrap everything up back to T1 story. |
