Anyone use one of those telehealth clinics like Hone Health where they send you a blood test kit, you send it back and they recommend/prescribe hormones if necessary? Would you recommend? Want to get my T levels checked but I don't want to spend a fortune. |

I can give you my epxerience going the telehealth route. I started on TRT during COVID. Was feeling very symptomatic of low test, fatigue, not seeing results in the gym commensurate with work levels, lower sex drive. My doctors at the time would hear nothing of it. I had been on a very low dose of TRT a few years prior prescribed by my doctor. I was in the low end of normal he said and he wanted to bring me up a little. I was in my late thirties, started full TRT at 46. Subsequent GPs took me off it, told me low test was bunk, they had never seen real examples of it, etc. Should add I was on an HMO- Kaiser. The telehealth company I contacted was, at least then, affiliated with Derek from More Plates, More Dates. Paid them and they set me up with labcorp. My total test was 113. I was 46. The doc put me on a dose of 200mg injected twice a week. Next blood test showed my levels in the 600s. After COVID, I went for a Dexa scan. Hadn't had one in about 16 months due to lockdowns. I had dropped around 7 or 8 pounds of fat and added 13 pounds of lean muscle. Of course, my diet and meal prep were on and I was lifitng (3x week full body), doing LISS cardio and boxing every week. I've been pretty happy dpoing the telemed route. My doctor at Kaiser was very condescending when I told him. But it's literally changed my life. I can notice a difference very quickly when I'm off due to prescription disruptions. I am going to look at a different company, as I've had a lot fo problems with this one in terms of customer service. I pay about $180 for bloodwork and virtual doc visit 1-2 times a year and am currently paying $350 plus $30 shipping for a 140 day prescription at 200 mg weekly. I get reimbursed for all of it through my FSA, including syringes, etc I get direct from Amazon. I have since switched to Blue Cross/Blue Shield but have not tried to get them to cover it. I honestly like the telemed process and am fine spending out of pocket but I am curious if there are better companies that are a little cheaper. |
