Unfortunately, the Orca brand I used while working is no longer being manufactured I wish every agency prioritized saving officers backs considering how long our careers are. My lumbar area is entirely FUBARd after 35 years on the job. I wouldn't have made it that long without having a doctors note for suspenders after my neck surgery in the early 2000s Good luck in your search, OP |

I think mine are Blauer. They are a real game changer for me. I set my duty belt up a little on the loose side and it kind of floats there with the suspenders and my inner belt keeping it in place. All the young guys think it's kind of foolish but they will learn in a few years. I'm 62 and can do a 12 or 16 with tons of foot patrol and not be dying at the end of it. The sooner you start wearing them, the better. I attach the suspenders to my inner belt. Then the duty belt gets put in place with four or five keepers. I wear leather, not that tacky nylon stuff but quite a bit of my gear holders are Kydex in matching basketweave. The vest gets pulled on over that. My level IIIa vest isf a front zip Blauer with some molle. Easy as can be and it's not a pain in the ass to remove if you need to during your shift. |

I bought a spare set when they stopped making them, plus another to use. Didn’t want to use the other brands that were available back then. Main thing is finding suspenders that don’t use luggage style shoulder pads, nor ones that don’t have any shoulder padding. You want something soft that spreads the weight beyond the webbing a bit. |

When we first went to outer carriers guys put almost everything on the carrier. The admins felt that looked unprofessional and restricted what equipment could go on the carrier and anything else had to be carried on the duty belt. As far as I know none of the guys still working are authorized to use suspenders. I found them to be immensely useful in getting the weight off my spine. From the level of discomfort I had back then I'm sure that I had some degree of lower spinal damage by them although no one has done any scans of that part of my back |
