I'm in the market for a new subwoofer for home a theater application. I am looking at the SVS SB-1000 Pro ($599), the HSU VTF-2 MK5 ($689) and the SVS PB-1000 Pro ($799). It isn't going into a big room. About 24 x 16, but it is a condo so I don't really need earth shattering base. Any first hand experience with any/all of the above? |

I have a few of the SVS sub-woofers and enjoy all of them. There's an SB16-ultra in the music room, a 3000 micro on the patio, and an SB 1000 supplementing two older SVS subwoofers. You haven't decided between the sound of a sealed verse ported with your SB and PB selections. I like sealed boxes for music and ported ones for home theater.  |

Tag for interest. I'm more in the HT camp, so I've been eyeing the PB-2000 for a while, and the new HSU also checks a bunch of boxes. But I've almost pulled the trigger on one of the Polk RP1400 or 1600 units a couple of times. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. I haven't made a decision yet, but I'm leaning HSU. You guys are making harder by getting behind SVS. One of things making me lean HSU besides it reaches a little lower and has more power is the weight. It's only 20% bigger than the PB 1000 but weighs almost half as much more. I can't help but think the construction is better. |
| The SVS PB-16 is built like a friggin' tank. Its earth shattering. I have a well off buddy who installed an extremely high end home theater in his home. $50,000 on speakers alone. The SVS rocked his world in my modest and humble theater room. SVS also offers a no charge return policy if you're not happy with it. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you decide. Home theater and what not is just tons of fun IMHO! Good luck! |

Dr Poh knows his shit and is actively involved in everything including the customer service. He will personally help you with issues. Great company. Great subs. Marketing is why people choose. Svs. They are good but there are better options |

SVS has really good products and great customer service. I have an older PB2000. Never dealt with HSU. If I ever upgraded, I'd look at Power Sound Audio. Someone mentioned bass shakers, that might be a good addition for someone in a condo. |

A word on my experience with HSU customer service during the purchase of the VTF-2 MK5. HSU ships UPS signature required so I had the sub shipped to the office instead of the house. A few days after I ordered placed the order I got a call from HSU. They wanted to verify the shipping address because it was different from my billing address. I got a shipping notification a few minutes after I got off the phone. I tracked the package all the way to on the truck and out for delivery. It didn't get delivered that day or the next. UPS tracking just showed delivery exception with no explanation of what was going on. I called UPS and they opened a ticket and gave me the number for the local warehouse. The guy I talked to there said they would try to figure out what was going on. I called HSU and told them what was going on. The same guy that called me originally said he was tracking the problem and would go ahead and start an investigation with UPS from his end. A little while later the UPS tracking was updated to show they had started an investigation. A couple of days later the guy from HSU called and told me UPS had completed their investigation, had no idea what happened to sub, and they would ship a replacement ASAP. How the hell do you loose a 2' x 3' x 2-1/2' box that weighs 70 lbs plus? I got a new shipping notification from HSU the next day, and about a week later UPS delivered the sub to the office. I was pretty happy with the way HSU handled the situation. UPS, not so much. I hope whoever it was that highjacked my sub dropped the damn thing on their foot. |
