Haha, they got me for an Ox too, but I've wanted one for a while. I also found out that I could not wait until November to complete my IC Assault chain after all. But, a Super Hornet, Ox, Nursa, and Salvation fit nicely. Parking the Ox on a repair pad adds 64 SCU of cargo availability in that area that wasn't there before. I may try carrying some distortions to outfit the Hornet to make my own salvage that way instead of paying. We'll see, there's a lot of options and things to tinker with.

I think the mothership concept is the best. You're gonna have a blast. I didn't have QT markers fail at all in 4.8, so if that holds in 4.9, we're in business. While you build your chain, the Ox is the stealthiest ship in the game with the right components. Great for sneaking around and doing loot runs.

Be mindful that there may be some fuckery with pack CCUs. Like you can't melt and revert just one ship I think, because it's part of a pack. I don't know if it's still that way.

It's still that way. Also, if it was on sale, and you try to unmelt it (even if they let you) it'll unmelt for full price.

I've done the mothership concept with the C2, Golem, and Salvation before, it works pretty well for extended stays out in deep space. I'm currently hanging out in Nyx, and once I get tired of trying to level up Battaglia for free ships, I'll probably just go out for an extended trip in one of the belts, the mining seems decent and the salvage panel spawning is out of control there (or maybe that's just because I wasn't looking for panels at the time).

Up until a few days ago, I'd been running around Hurston scooping up all the Bexalite the four outposts that sell it had to offer. It's something like a 3m UEC profit for most of a C2 full, although having 15m+ tied up in the cargo hold makes for a nerve-wracking flight to your sell point

Eta: I bought the OX specifically for a CCU seed with no intentions of outright melting/unmelting it, so I should be safe; the RSI website shows it available for an upgrade.

It's a neat little ship, and if I didn't already have a C1 I'd be a lot more interested in it. It honestly would pair very well with a second player in a Golem, supplying the Golem with fresh ore pods and ferrying the full ones back to a refinery. That would require me to be social and have friends to play with though

Right on, man. I've found some rarer ores around the board ship Battaglia missions. Keep an eye out if you're grinding them still. That Golem may come in handy. A mother ship with a miner, salvager, and extra bags can do a lot in just one chill mission. Neat loot in some of theCutlasses too.

I've actually been hauling my Salvation around in the C2 while doing the "crew in distress" missions lately. I've also noticed the Caterpillar isn't jumping the quantum after the mission ends as of the latest hotpatch, so that's even more hull to scrape after the mission ends. The downside is that you can't break a Cat with a Salvation, but it doesn't take terribly long to blow it into manageable pieces with the C2.

Also, I couldn't resist a $10 upgrade from the Golem OX to the Cutlass. I haven't applied it yet (and proabbly won't until I go to do the next upgrade), mostly because I'd much rather have the OX than another Cutty. I already have two tactically acquired Moraine Cutties that I don't use

Those are fun. I've been finding some neat armors and OK components to break down for mats. The Moraine data center missions are fun too, but they've been doubling up missions at the same location, so if the other player takes my data drive, I can't complete the mission. I was using the Salvation as a shuttle from the Ironclad, so I could park it far away and keep it safe. I've switched to mining now to start crafting some of the BPs I've earned. Kinda chill, but kinda boring.

Well I had a significant setback on my journey to get another 890J after the 4.8 wipe took mine away. I had a full cargo hold of Bexalite plus two loose 8scu crates in my C2 approaching August-Dunlow to sell off in Orison, aiming my nose roughly at the center structure of the spaceport as I was still a good 15km out.

CTD.

Oh well, crash protection might save me, I was flying a ship with an scm speed of 160m/s, it probably dropped like a rock when I crashed and it's probably falling through the atmosphere.

I reload the game and it sends me back to the same shard and I breathe a sigh of relief.... Then load in to Mercy Hospital in Levski, where I had last set my imprint since I'd been kicking around Nyx for the last couple weeks. I make my way back to Crusader, and there she is. The untouchable wreckage of my C2, filled with 15,000,000 aUEC worth of Bexalite and rare-ish armors I'd looted from HDMS outposts.

Attached File

I couldn't even board it to recover my loot because I had been a bit paranoid after having my front ramp open for so long at an outpost, so I'd locked all doors as soon as I took off so anybody hiding in the ship wouldn't be able to gank me mid-flight

Eta: the wreckage was well within the armistice zone, so I couldn't just land another ship and recover what cargo I could find because tractor beams are apparently weapons

Undoubtedly. That's probably the worst the game's gotten me so far though. That one genuinely hurt a little.

Plus now when I get to 47m aUEC I'll be fuming, knowing I should be able to buy my 890, but can't

I'm also checking every outpost I hit hoping for a pristine medal, ideally a cartography medal. A nice shiny gold Wikelo Intrepid would make a nice runabout for an 890 and the Intrepid fits in the hangar like a glove

I've gotten Unification Medals and ingots from Moraine missions, but rarely. Those are really easy. I did Vanduul Tech Smugglers yesterday and got a 6th Platoon medal, more ingots, large artifact fragments, Vanduul metal and knives, good components, rare armor pieces, cryopods, and 5 boom tubes. The 1.3 mil AUEC was nice too. It was rough doing it solo, but fun.

All that to say, there's good trading loot out there if you can't get the Cartography medal itself.  I'm going to make a UEX account and start trading and selling this stuff for things I want. If you think you can use one of the medals let me know. You can just have it.

I'll definitely keep you in mind if I can't come up with something myself. I've actually been trying to get a few friends on board to run the raid-type FPS missions. Two already have game packages (but don't play at the moment) and another is a bit turned off by all the bugs. I think if I can get any of them in a FPS mission they'll enjoy themselves though.

As an aside, I have some goodies from VKB on the way. STECS Space Throttle Max and a Gladiator NXT Evo. They should do a little better than the sloppy X52 Pro I've been flying with for almost two years now
8/10/2026 1:19:19 AM EDT
[#12]
I respect that and hope you get your bros involved. The Vanduul Tech Smuggler mission was a blast, even with frame drop issues in the Polaris part and John Wick NPCs everywhere else. Maybe after the free fly and some maintenance it’ll be smoother. I just had to be way more slow and careful being alone.

Your new gear sounds great, and I hope you enjoy it. I’m an M&K guy in Star Citizen, but I have an old VKB Gladiator Mk II and a Winwing Orion 2 with F18 throttles for DCS and IL2. That VKB is 7 or so years old and going strong, so I know you’ll enjoy yours. Same name in game if you ever see me or wanna reach out.

So the stick arrived Wednesday and the throttle Friday. After a few days of playing with both, holy shit. It's a night and day difference between the X52 I'd been using and the new VKB gear. A bit like taking a golf cart with a flat tire around a race track, then hopping in a Porsche to do the same. I'm still working on smoothing out my landings, but that boils down to me still being in the learning curve of keeping the nose level while rolling back throttle but still moving forward while also translating down to get into a hangar. My pad landings are still just as smooth as they've always been.

I'm also at 41m aUEC of my 70m goal to get an 890J (I never buy a ship when I have just barely enough to purchase it. I like to keep a few million to continue commodity trading after the purchase). After that I'll probably hop back to Nyx to see about getting my free Alliance Prospector, then I may take a whack at the VTS solo. My one friend is still in "maybe" territory, one is in firm "hard no" territory due to the game being buggy, and my coworker is in "maybe, but not likely" territory. So I guess I'll have to try my best by myself

Eta: I'm thinking maybe a rented Connie with a nursa on board for the VTS mission? Not sure if that's a viable plan or not... I need decent firepower and shields because I'm not wonderful at dogfighting
8/17/2026 9:46:29 AM EDT

Glad the new gear is working out and you're making that money. I've been grinding Vaughn missions to get the Killshot BP. That sucked a lot. But I'm done now so back to having fun.

A Connie and a Nursa should be fine if there's room for a Pulse or other bike. You're going to need that too, it'll be alot easier and quicker since you can avoid the new Vanduul that show up as the mission progresses. They won't target bikes. You can probably take them on, but the only payout is being able to harvest some mid-grade components. I just skip all that. I suggest watching a walkthrough if you haven't already. I could have made it through the mission, but I never would've figured out how to get into the warehouse without it.

I've been fine with a Corsair, Nursa, and Pulse. The Pulse has been kinda buggy lately, so I may switch that up. Extra Medgels and med gun refills won't hurt either. And a shit ton of ammo. My last run I went through about 40 CQ7 mags. My last two runs the warehouse didn't open, so that sucked. It's a known bug. Still had fun and got some Vanduul metal and plating and the money though.

Aside from the servers being massively overloaded, it seems smooth so far. At least as smooth as day 1 of a major patch can go anyway.

I'm enjoying the free Ironclad rental. I'm taking advantage of everyone trying to run SoO and running commodities while all the stations are empty.

So far, one ICA run down, about to start run #2. Sitting at 58.6m of my 70m goal before buying my replacement 890J

Eta: I hate how much I'm enjoying flying the barge that is the ICA. I might have to buy one when it hits the in-game shops. I love me some big, heavy, lumbering ships.

I haven't tried SoO yet. I had the same thought as him and did VTS. It was a whole new experience on a fresh patch. A lot easier in parts, everything worked, and I got all my loot for once. Now is a great time for all of us loot goblins. I was messing around at the RABs in Pyro and got some cool stuff. A CQ7 I crafted along with some scorched attachments is just nasty. May ahve to go back there while SoO is still new.

The ICA really is something else. Easy in and out of cargo, ships, whatever. The Liberator will be easier for ships, but I don't have confidence the ships will be protected very well. There's shield holes on a lot of ships still. I do my best to keep the ICA away from danger, but you still have to go to stations and jump points sometimes.

Edit: Seeing mixed reviews for ability to complete. If it's dumb, I may jump in to grab a couple of the new rifles and backspace out if I can't just leave and abandon. I'll wait for some vids to come out to see what's what.

Edit 2: Never mind. The game is broken for me now. Servers for Nyx are on fire.

I did the first part of SoO today. It was tedious solo. NPCs are everywhere. So many, and behind everything. I made it to the end of Solanki Platform, found two Arlingtons in the conex, and just left. I died once, and it respawned me on the platform, which was nice.

If I had time, I would've seen how far I could get without getting pissed, but I think it would take a solo player a couple hours at least, and I had things to do. Performance wise, it stuttered a bit, but I don't know if that was just me and my system or what. There is a lot going on environment-wise, let alone the NPCs and whatnot. I will probably try again next week when everyone else goes back to work lol.

Anyways, if you just want the new guns, you do have to go all the way to the end of the first platform and get the drive from the boss to open the conex. The two I found didn't have the scope attached, and there were none in the box. Good luck.

How does siege compare to VTS running either solo? I don't have much issue running the entire first platform in Siege solo, which makes me feel like VTS wouldn't be terrible to solo either.

Actually, I made it almost to the second part of the second platform with all the boxes and stuff yesterday. I had to AFK and was gone for too long and timed out

My only real complaint about solo Siege is it's an absolute slog, slowly inching forward and clearing enemies.

I did manage to grab two sets of the Ninetails Morozov armor, a Vendetta HMG (which has only made me want the super heavy armor even more), and I think three Arlingtons. My go-to primary is now a Widowmaker Arlington complete with the Myers scope

Eta: my best so far was about 90 minutes on the lower part of the first platform and then another 60 on the upper platform but a decent chunk of the upper platform was me searching the ground for the drive to shut down the thing because it did the bullshit where it drops an item instead of putting it in your inventory
9/8/2026 2:00:22 PM EDT
[#24]
If you did the first platform without issue, you'll be fine. Just take your time and don't get overrun. Some NPCs rush and others bunker, same as other FPS stuff in the game. There are also event and location triggers, so you will clear an area, but then trip a trigger and now there's six dudes behind you. Also random respawns in the Central Atrium when you come back in there.

It'll probably take you a couple hours or a bit more your first couple of times, so not too long. I can cheese it in about an hour and fifteen minutes or so if it goes smoothly (almost never does lmao). If I did it the right way, maybe another 15-20 minutes on top of that. Then about 15 minutes in the warehouse if it opens. Loot seems to be fixed, but the elevator to the warehouse is still iffy. I have a bunch of tricks and tips, but I don't want to spoil it for you When it runs well it's a really fun and kind of intense mission.

One tip that won't spoil it: when you loot Vanduul corpses, if they don't have anything or just have a knife, open all and look at the tabs on top of the inventory menu, there may be multiple loot boxes shown. One of those will have the goods. You may have to manually carry it and store it, instead of shift-click, so store whatever is in your hands first or it will swap into the Vanduul's inventory. It won't be gone, but it's annoying. It's a known bug.

Nice. It can be frustrating at times, but it's a good mission. The Battaglia missions are fun too if you can get them. I've only had story mission three spawn twice and both were bugged in different ways, so I'm stuck. That sucks because I have a prospector and the People's Alliance Golem, and I want the new ore pod BPs. Typical Star Citizen.

Edit: Finally got Battaglia finished. Also, third run in a row of VTS where the warehouse was inaccessible. Annoying as hell.

I've got the Alliance Golem, I need to work on getting the Alliance Prospector. I don't think I'll even try for the MOLE unless they manage to make missions persist between sessions. I've seen a lot of people asking about the Battaglia missions in global due to them not showing up for them though. I haven't been to Nyx yet in 4.10 though, so I have no idea if they'll show up for me or not.

I do think I'll be chaining my Cutlass up to a Shiv and that Shiv up to a Stingray in the next few days though. I don't really feel strongly about either ship (I couldn't care less about owning a Cutty, for that matter), but it'll put my current CCU chain at a $175 value with somewhere around $125 spent just in time for IAE and whatever sales come with it though

I hope it works for you. I had already done the missions but having them strung together as a story was pretty neat. The new Golem ore pods are 20 SCU, and the MISC bags are 15 SCU. The struggle with the bugs is worth it for those.

That's a good start for a chain. I don't have any plans for IAE I don't think. Since I gave in and completed the ICA chain early, I have nothing lined up. Maybe they'll get me with something new and shiny.

I ran through the first Battaglia story mission last night and, sure enough, I've now got one mining mission and the ship in distress mission showing under the Battaglia tab and that's it. I'd hoped to force the second story mission by just visiting Recco (sort of how starting your instance for Siege automatically starts the contract) to no avail. Maybe tonight I'll have better luck.

I did start working on my Intersec rep a little while I was in Nyx though. The Ares Inferno made pretty short work of my first two missions

Yeah the second mission is called Blinding Hope in Trouble. That's the one to look for. The third is Idea for Isaac or something like that. That's where I got stuck for several days. But I also found out the new ore bags need iron of 800 or higher. Which is lame. Same for the new modules.

I managed to get the Blinding Hope mission last night, but no luck on the third mission yet.

The good news is that mined goods and commodity cargo are supposed to be in the LTP pool now, so they should persist between patches moving on. So with that in mind, I'll probably spend a LOT more time mining in the future.

Also, apparently the Starfarer is a loaner for the Stingray (makes sense, refueling and dogfighting are basically the same thing) and for some reason the loaner persisted even after the Stingray released. Or maybe that's normal, this is the first time I've had a Pledge Store loaner. Either way, that's apparently why I have two Starfarers in my ASOP

Funny enough I kept my hand mineables, and the Drake ore pods that I refined right before the patch came back, full. I lost the refined ores, but was able to refine them again. It was weird.

I just lost 5 hours of mining due to a server crash right as I was pulling into my hangar. Like one more minute and my ship would've been stored. I can't get back to it, so it's gone. I don't think I'll be doing that anymore. I have a few high quality guns and some mats left so I guess that's it. I'll just buy stuff. Strictly shit for fun or whatever now. I am beyond pissed. I don't care about losing space money and gear, and broken missions can be annoying, but this is something else.

Tried Siege of Orison tonight.   It was terrible.

NPCs glitching everywhere and spawning in on top of us.

Guns jamming, becoming single shot then character just tosses the rifle away where it usually falls through the floor.

Contract randomly failing.

Healing not working.

SEVERE FPS DROPS.

It was bad.  I don't know how they can make a 4 player instance so terrible.

I'm retired so I play pretty much everyday for a few hours and have a good sample to draw from. It's just been getting worse and worse as the patch drags on without server maintenance. Not that that's been a huge help when they do it, but cleaning up the persistent trash bullshit has to help on some level. I'm a pretty big cheerleader for the game, knowing fully well what it is and it's state, and even I am getting annoyed.

I was mining today because it's chill and relatively bug free, and Chris still got me good. The server/shard just vanished. I was thinking about going back to Siege to get a few more Arlingtons, but not if it's being that bad. I'd rather have the blueprint, to be honest. I hope Wombat had a better time.

It really is the GOAT and I hope they don't mess with it. Same with the Arlington.

I caved in and bought the Raven EX

I’ll test it out next week when I have time

I've run through the first platform probably 5-6 times and worked my way through the first half of the second platform once. I've basically given up on the idea of solo-ing it and my buddies look like they're going to flake on playing. Lag-wise, I've not seen it get too bad for Siege, but I haven't tried it in a week or so.

I've moved on to mining for the Orison Relief contracts, and even that was rough last night. I'd cut my laser and the meters would continue rising as if I was running the laser at 100% until the rock exploded, along with the regular delays and lag of mining.

Looks like the crafting Orison Relief missions will be easy money, but maybe not quite as quick as I'd hoped. About two hours of Golem mining (realistically most of that was just spent looking for >600q Aluminum) later and I only have enough 600-700q Aluminum to complete the small crafting contract.

I do have like 5scu of Aluminum that I don't want to use for it. It's something like 786q, so I think it'll stay in my storage for item crafting rather than use the good stuff for a contract

I haven't really had time this last week to play, and I won't be home all next week either, so I'll have to wait. Hopefully it's still good when I come back.

Same problems I had with mining. It was frustrating. That made it even worse when Chris stole my Mole. I had a lot of HQ iron and Aluminum onboard that I dealt with a lot of BS to get.

Yeah with ores supposedly persisting now, I'd keep it too. You never know when you might need it. I'm careful with my crafted guns, but it is SC.

If it's still up when I get back, maybe I'll give it a go. I'll be there for SoO, so I might as well.
