Logged my first solo today. Took me 13 months and 46 hours to get there. I took a bit to learn how to flare right , nailed it finally. Did a solid 8 landings today, then instructor was like , ok I gotta pee, pull onto the hangar. I taxied in. He got out and said , ok I’m on radio but you are doing your solo. Attached File Attached File Perfect approach, landed with normal 30 degree flaps. More energy than I was used to so little skip but solid. Got permission for second one and got excited, turned my base a early, making my final high by about 350 feet. Cut power to idle, forward slipped , got it lined up just right, for nailing my target point with 40 degrees flaps, went to above idle power (1050 ish) and greased it on with the stall horn doing the briefest blip as the last inch or so of elevator was used. (And since there isn’t a smoking wreck on the airfield I clearly did well).  I figure in 2-3 more hours I learn to dogfight in a f-14 right???? Lol @Mach PPL check ride done. I swear I heard the top gun guitar riff after I did my final landing and I had not heard the DPE say "that failed to meet standard" (that means you failed, anything else is accecptable) . Only skill that I was going "that could get improved" was my slip to landing with no flaps, was a decent gusty crosswind and I ended up off center after transition from forward slip to side slip, ended up using a go around (which is a tested skill, so i demonstrated that). |
