Had some bananas going bad..... Lost 5 lbs today, I'll settle for a "fancy" drink over a neat pour. 2 oz Zafra 21 rum, banana, 1 oz 99 bananas, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 scoop Tillamook vanilla ice cream, ice, blender. After working outside today then mowing the yard when I got home..... The first banana daiquiri I've ever made is going well with dinner. Flame suit on.

Last night was the new OGD 7 year bottled-in-bond. Tonight was the new 8 year Wild Turkey 101. Both just had a better nose and palate than the 4 year or standard 101, respectively. |

| Picked up a bottle of the Old Fitzgerald 7-year-old BiB on the way home from work. I've always loved wheated bourbons and you can't go wrong with a bonded bourbon. This one, however, is failing to impress. It's heavy on the oak tannins which are overwhelming the other flavor notes, at least to my palate. It's super oily, forming a great film on the glass. Jimmy Russell would say it has a great "chew". I'm not impressed. |

I picked up a bottle of 7 yr, 0 month Baker's 7 a few weeks ago and liked it so much, I bought two back-up bottles from the same barrel. Since then, a bottle of Baker's 7 high rye bourbon has been taunting me, every time I visit the liquor store. I've recently concluded that out of low-rye, high-rye and wheated bourbons, I prefer high rye, so I grabbled the Baker's version. So far, I'm undecided. It lacks the body and sweetness I like and is a little heavy on the rye. But, that's the neck pour, so I'll see how I like it over the next week or so. ETA: My first sip was early this afternoon, right after purchasing it. I just did a second, full pour and I'm now decided.....it's good!! Totally different than the experience earlier today.
