Just finished "Terms of Enlistment" by Marko Kloos
MilSF, book 1 of 3. I liked it. The biggest problem I had with it - when I hit the end of the book - I wanted more! (I've been reading too much Ringo/Sanderson/Correia - books of less than 500 pages are novella's!) 
Ebook only for now. |

Just finished Cuttlefish and Steam Mole by Dave Freer.
Post apocalyptic steam-punk, set in a world where the Big Melt has changed the world. Aimed at a YA market, it's the story of Clara and her mother, escaping from British and Russian agents to find a place where they can be safe. |

Finished L'Amour's "Last of the Breed" I liked the story but absolutely hated the lack of an ending. I hope his other books aren't "creative" like that. I'm working on Hillenbrand's "Unbroken" now. It's amazing what those guys had to endure.  |

Almost finished, highly recommended. Good read about the gasoline industry and how they've got us by the balls. (There are no viable replacements for gasoline at this point.) |

I finish a book, think it's the best thing written since Caesar's Gallic Wars, and then read a few reviews where other people didn't like the book, and I start to see the flaws. I need to work on my critical reading skills, but since I usually read for pure entertainment, it hasn't been necessary to tune them up. Professional book reviewer is probably not on my list of next career choices. 
Creatures of Appetite by Todd Travis was on the free list of the other day. I like it better than I thought I would. The twist at the very end was just that-it totally took me by surprise. If he continues this as a series, I think I'd pick it up. The next book on the to-be-read stack is FIRE WITH FIRE, by Charles Gannon. |

Just finished "Fearless" by Eric Blehm" excellent book about what a Navy SEAL went through before his navy career. Highly recommend this book. Not ganna lie, I was almost in tears the chapters about his death.
Now im reading "Lions Of Kandahar" by Major Rusty Bradley and Kevin Maurer, its good but im having a hard time focusing on the details. |

Recently read include:
Joe Ledger: the lost files by Jonathan Maberry. Shoot'em short stories featuring Maberry's character, Joe Ledger, fighting zombies, terrorists, and an international assassin. Ghosts of Belfast by Neville Stuart. Former IRA soldier is haunted by the 12 people he killed during the Troubles. IRA guy starts killing other IRA guys to make the ghosts go away. I skipped this when it came out in 2009 because the ghost stuff sounded stupid, it wasn't. Plugged by Eoin Colfer. Fun novel with a former Irish Army soldier now working as a doorman in a low-rent casino in New Jersey. Trouble and laughs ensues. Last Kind Words by Tom Piccirilli. More crime drama by Piccirilli. The Consummata by Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins. Great stuff. Late 1960s with thief Morgan the Raider on the run in Miami from the CIA when he decides to help an anti-Castro group recover several thousand dollars stolen by a Cuban agent. |
