We are in the middle of monsoon season and heavy rains deposit massive amounts of material in front of our driveway. We hand shovel it sometimes (takes several hours minimum, and invariably deposits again the very next day), and sometimes the county comes by with a blade. All their blade does it dump it all into our yard, in a huge mound, which then dams the water during the next storm and floods our yard. I want to get a snow (sand) plow attachment for our 2018 Ford F150 so I can do this myself. I've read some of the snow plow attachment articles and they mention engine, suspension, factory packages.... We won't quite need all that because we're not moving a 6' tall bank of snow, just a little sand and rock. What is the easiest way to acquire and mount a simple plow attachment for clearing a monsoon sand bank? Thanks. |

Rent a skid steer or small tractor. Snow plow isn't made for moving dirt. Yes I've tried, with a commercial plow and a 1 ton truck. Personally I would NOT put a snow plow on a new F-150. Let alone try moving dirt with it. Light snow maybe. Heck even spend the money and hire a guy. Couple hundred bucks is well spent over the price of a plow. Let alone damage to the truck. |

I'll echo the above. Not on my truck, but my plow can't move even an inch of rock. They're not front end loaders or graders. FWIW, plows are hell on transmissions and mounts and it's way worse pushing dirt instead of snow. One thing you might try that is far more benign is a drag. I have a small drag I throw a couple concrete blocks on for more bite, and it moves more sand/gravel/rock in a pass than my plow ever could. |
