USA really stinking it up. Hope they play the rookies this afternoon because the “experienced” players really stunk it up this morning.

Also doesn’t help that EUR came to play this morning. Attached File

definitely not a good start for team USA.

JT  and Morikawa should never have been on this team. They didn't perform last time and their seasons have been mediocre at best..... I get Sheffler has to be, but his record in Ryders is less than stellar. Keegan should have been a playing Captain....

I was so looking forward to the Ryder Cup and Team USA just never showed up.  Although gotta hand it to the Euros, they have been playing lights out.

just hope we can flip a few of these matches and keep some of these rounds going - there are some pretty fun pairings out there today.

edit to add - agreed on the crowd.  McIlroy has had some extremely thick skin this weekend and has backed it up with his play as well.

Obviously you do care by responding. The dude was trying his ass off although it didn’t come off.  All world Wally cleaver Scheffler didn’t do jack either.

As for the event it was in New York and it’s been hyped up for 2 years how brutal it would be.  Just like every other Northeast sporting event.  The WM gets hyped as a drunk fest and then people act shocked when it becomes one. The Euros are not bereft of this they gave Harman hell when he won the British Open.

The US brings a bunch of boring guys and that is why we lost this time and last. You need players with charisma and balls that make the other team second guess themselves. At least half of the US team were shrinking violets and/or didn’t act like they wanted to be there, and the captain only got selected because he was dissed on Netflix. The Euros had a good mix of players and personalities and a great system as well, and they don’t automatically rule out some of their potential guys because of a PGA-LIV beef.

Golf is a great sport for many reasons, which extend beyond physical talent and capabilities.

So which guys with charisma and balls should have been on the team, but were left off for the boring guys?

I didn't realize that a lot of fans went all in on a "Fu-k You Rory" chant with thousands of kids present and then got upset that Rory gave it right back to a few of them.  What a bunch of classless people.  It appeared to me that some of the guys on the US team were really ashamed.

I just read where one of the announcers, Heather McMahan, was fired or quit her job for joining in the chant over a live microphone.  I have no problem with her getting canned.

As for the boring player, low charisma thing, give me the proven winners with a track record who can take some pressure and have been there before.  They earned it.

This year P Reed has been playing great and he has been there. Was 3rd at the masters. He is also hated by most PGA guys. Taylor Gooch has been consistently very strong for 3 years but no one that ignores LIV knows him. Both would have been better than English, Henley and Burns. Hell Keegan would have been better this year and 2 years ago.

2 years ago Bryson was totally ignored, as was DJ who was still playing good at that time.

I root for team USA every time and give praise to good people.

Bryson needs life a humbling experience that means something to him.  If he was the only point lost to Europe on Sunday and had his ass handed to him by a humble and slighter built man than he is, that could have been one of the things that does the trick.  And in the long run the sport would be better for it.
If enough of those Life-Humbling experiences happen, he'll be worthy of the worship.

One of the Golf Industry's greatest accolades is that there isn't hasn't been much trash talk and grandstanding.
As such, players being interviewed focus on what's good and shy from the bad.
If you were around when Brooks Koepka was all the rage, you might remember his bold statements in 2019 about how he doesn't view Rory McIlroy as one of his rivals.
Here's Rory's reply to Brook's brashness when interviewed:
“What Brooks said wasn’t wrong … He’s been the best player in the world the last couple years … I don’t think he had to remind me that I haven’t won one in a while.”
It's been a long time since I've turned my back on all the other pro-sports ball leagues, so I don't know if those players stay as classy as what Rory exemplifies in the Golf Community.

A simple ChatGPT search on Payne Stewart reveals what I hope Bryson matures into:
Q: "What is the History of Payne Stewart and how he became the man worthy of having the Payne Stewart Award in his honor."

In the last decade of his life, Payne Stewart underwent a transformation. Known earlier in his career for being brash, he matured significantly in the 1990s:
Became deeply committed to his Christian faith
Focused on family and fatherhood
Devoted time and money to charity and helping others
By the time of his death, Stewart was regarded as one of the most admired and gracious figures in professional golf.

Each Payne Stewart Award recipient reflects a part of what Stewart became: not just a great golfer, but a man of humility, character, and service.

hhmm... I have no problem with Dechambeau making the US Squad. He played well over the last two years, and earned his spot on the team. I thought he performed well, but just not well enough in his matches to win. He and Scheffler made nine birdies and still lost 3&2. Just not their day.

DJ..? give me a break. That guy cares more about going fishing then playing golf.  He's missed the cut in five of the eight majors he has played, and his best finish was 23rd at the Open, this year.

Taylor Gooch?  yeah he won LIV Andalucia this year, but he chose not to even try to qualify for any of the Major championships this year.  Seems like he is more interested in other activities than the Ryder Cup.

Reed...3rd place at the Masters, and prior Ryder Cup experience.  He last played in one in 2018, and he went 1-2 in his matches. oh yeah, many players don't like him because of cheating allegations. The only way he'll make a team is if he plays his way on.

It's easy to bash the players you named after the results are in, but English and Henley both qualified for the team. English finished runner-up at both PGA and Open Championship. Henley finished second at the Tour championship to Fleetwood, and won the Palmer Invitational this year.

You can make an argument that Burns was a bad pick, and that's easy to do now after he flamed out at Bethpage. He was ranked #1 in strokes gained/putting this year on the PGA tour, and finished 7th at the Tour championship.  He's also a close  childhood  friend of Scottie Scheffler, which may have had some influence on him being a captains pick.

Ryder Cup was a nightmare.

Went to a practice round. Keep in mind that is my home course. The rough was much shorter than when i can book a tee time normally. Can’t speak to the greens, but from what i heard from some insiders the Euros prepared much more than the US team. And it’s evident now.

The decorum was another story. The practice rounds were tame, but sure seems like it got out of hand. I know “we” can get out of hand as fans, but there’s a distance between getting on the other team, and being a disgraceful ass. No one hates Rory more than me, but the way he was treated was unfair - that said the beer at his wife indecent was not as described.

I had a great time when i was there, and I’ll likely play it before the end of the year. US could have done more to win. Unfortunately the Euros came to play, and they did.
