I've managed to screw up the ORIENT RAY II mod. ebay bezel did not fit. Now the factory is back on but takes enormous force to rotate. "Willard"  Nah, was getting sick of only having "serious" watches. So I decided to brake the winter doldrums with a more "fun" piece. "Why so serious?!?" Was what I was going after on that little feller. Plus I figure it will double as a kookie little spring piece too. Built up the "willard" however to contrast/balance out the sillyness of the "mm200". A little ying and yang action. |

Love the color scheme and lume! I almost built a watch with one of those dials, but I had already done up a couple BB58's and needed to take a break from the Tudor/Rolex styling. Still might do one eventually but not for the foreseeable future. Here's one of the BB's i did up. Gifted it to my bro for xmas. He's not a watch guy but wears it every day. Puts a smile on my face!

"SKX013 Super Stock" After wanting a new watch I came here and found out about modding. Convinced I didn't want to do any modding I set off on the quest for "the perfect watch". Then once I got a nearly mint SKX013 the disease slowly crept in..... It started with a bezel insert swap to an LCBI lumed saphire. Then I did a saphire swap for the Hardlex as well. Wanting to keep the stock look I went with a flat crystal. Don't quite remember if it was from CT or LIW.  Then realizing I liked the included Jubilee style bracelet and clasp but not how cheap they felt I went about replacing those as well. In line with keeping the factory look I snagged up a Prospex milled single extension style divers clasp paired with a Strapcode Jubilee bracelet.  And finally I swapped out the crown with a little easier to grip CT big crown. It also has the benefit of appearing nearly oem. I suppose it technically does up the depth rating too, but I'll never need any of the dive aspects in this or any watch personally.  I honestly don't mind the 7s26 movement so I felt no need to swap that out. And I did keep all of the stock parts together so I could revert it back if i ever felt the need to, highly unlikely. At the end of the day I appreciated the design aspects and visual cues of the watch "mostly.....mostly......" just not some of the materials used to facilitate bringing the watch to market at its intended price point. Soooooooo all that is to say......after that it was game over and off to the races for me on both the enthusiast part and definitely the modding aspect of the watch/Seiko game. And it's all of your guys fault too!  |

OMG, I should NOT have read this thread! I am now so far down the rabbit hole lol… I’ve been binge watching YouTube videos for the last few days. I definitely want to give this a try, but I have some questions… I guess Aliexpress is the only realistic source for the majority of parts needed. I tried looking on Amazon, but for example searching for “dial for NH35 movement” brings up 1/2 dozen offerings, whereas on Ali brings up dozens and dozens of PAGES of offerings… But holy cow Batman! The lack of any kind of specifics or details is frustrating as eff…. Using the dial example…. I click on one that interests me and there is a pic of, say a green dial for $10, next pic is green dial with some hands “installed” for $12….same pattern for every color that they offer…. NO info on whether that mean hands are included or not…. And, that seems to be the rule rather than the exception…. Same same for every other component…. Find a listing for cases…. First pic is a case for some amount… next pic is that case with a bracelet for a different price…. Next pic is a case with a dial in it for a different price…. Am I just supposed to assume what’s in the pic is what’s included? Next Q…. Yea, the prices are low, but what are the shipping costs like? I understand the shipping times are longer as in a few weeks vs a few days, but that’s fine, these are not gotta have right now items.. Finally, I guess they are legit? I try to support China as little as possible as a matter of principle, but I guess it is what it is…. I just am cautious of giving them credit card info lest my account gets hacked as a result… All said, I’m very interested in doing this so any tips and tricks are appreciated |

I have only used namokimods.com, weezmods.com, crystaltimes.net, lcbistore.com, and longislandwatch.com for my parts. As well as ebay, but thats only when i know exactly what i want and have the appropriate key words to search for. I'd rather pay a little more for quality parts imho. I know many people use ali x but I just like the idea of an actual retailer/online store front. Plus the sites I listed all have a pretty decent way to shop by category/watch model/etc. with most specs ez to find too. Btw welcome to the addiction brother!

Kind of wanted a Doxa and to also do another build when I did this one up. Essentially modded it in the same fashion as the SKX013 previously mentioned. So stock looking for the most part if you don't know what to look for. Started with a used but in good condition(apparently recently serviced within the last 2 years)SRP777 then added a Strapcode Beads of Rice bracelet with a Tuna/MM300 ratcheting clasp, LCBI saphire bezel insert and lumed chapter ring, as well as a Crystaltimes over sized crown and flat clear ar coated saphire too. "Lume-King" Turtle     Its looking like I'll probably be doing something similar on a SRCP44. |

I'm starting to wear one, and getting it regulated to right to the second on keeping time. I found using a machine to get to the second accuracy, isn't as good as wearing one and speeding up or slowing it down with how it varies in different positions. Get it figured out, and get the next one out of the case. This one's been sorted out already so it's a joy to see it ticking right to the second.

"Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, and the other's gold" SRPC44/"Golden Boy" and SRP777/"Lume-King Turtle"   To be honest I never much cared for the Turtle. I did a Willard build and really found it to wear comfortably so on my next build and wanting some of them Doxa vibes I did up the silver one. After realizing how much I actually enjoyed the Turtle I had to do a gold tone one too. Same build as the SRP777 pretty much. LCBI lumed rehaut and lumed bezel insert, Crystaltimes clear+ar coated saphire and big crown, with a Strapcode Jubilee style bracelet. Might try to mess with the clasp, but we'll see. I'd love to have a ratcheting style mm300 clasp but in gold tone. But i don't think Seiko makes one though... Eta: I totally agree with you, Teats, on wearing the watch to regulate it. Not owning a timegrapher I do imagine getting to a good medium might be a place to start and then wearing the piece to really dial it in. But I've regulated around to 3-6 watches so far by just wearing them and they still keep accuracy to within 1-5 seconds a day and are all just your run of the mill NH movements too. Aside from one, my SKX013. It is wayyyyyy out of whack atm but it is running on a 7S26 too soooo.... However I do get the feeling I may just need to demagnetize her before trying to reregulate it again. At least I'm hoping that's all. |

I didn't think I'd like green face watches as much as i do either. As I'm usually just a plain Jane black and silver sort of guy. But the green seems so versatile. The white face is nice, might just need a dark/black handset. I've been shopping titanium cases as of late too. Just waiting for some decent deals as I'm in no rush. Not to mention probably have too many watches as is.

Does anyone know where I could find a Tachymeter bezel insert for a SKX007 bezel? I understand it doesn't make sense on a dive watch, but Orient has this now: Attached File And I'd like to mod it with a new bezel and Tachymeter insert. Well now for the waiting game. Going to do my 3rd bb58 style using a namoki case. Going with Tiffany blue dial and bezel insert from weez. Probably a good 2-4 weeks of waiting. Maybe I'll end up keeping this one instead of gifting it away. Thought i had gotten the bb58 bug out of my system, but was replacing some spring bars on the one I gifted my pops and messing with the one I gave my bro and realized how much I love the look of em'. Might try a parachute strap tho instead of a nato this time around.   Already have a spare nh36 somewhere in the parts bin. |

Maybe finished on this one, but also might pop her back open to switch the seconds hand. As the lume is the wrong color.  And a new strap for this guy.  Eta: replaced the whole handset. Hadn't noticed how much I marred up the hour hand until I posted that pic last night.  Lume shot:  Not sure about how I feel on the differing lume shades and I think the seconds hand is a bit askew. |

I've been eyeing one up since I first saw it about a year or so and finally found one at a "decent enough price " after haggling a bit. Still a bit much unless you are a die hard Seiko fan boi imho. It works in the same way the Marathon natos work, where you pull it over the second keeper to tuck under the 1st one. It is the Seiko Seichu strap that iirc comes on their JDM/SLA models. So it has 2 keepers. The floating one is taller than the fixed one:  Then it folds over the top to pull tight on the floating second keeper, similar to a zulu system:  I tend to run mine backwards and through so this was a tad different:  I also usually cut off this lil tail to turn it in to a single pass:  Its pretty decent quality, but they start out at about $180 for a nato. Im usually good spending about $11-$20 so for a nato that's a bit much. Metal bracelet and clasp is a different story but for a nato..... |
Oooofffffff......in order to use an oem Seiko clasp i might have to get a whole extra bracelet just for the link by the clasp. The included clasp does drop down to 18mm but is affixed by a standard spring bar on one side, and a pin and collar on the other....... trying to see what I can do atm. Tbh I'm not a huge fan of UncleSeiko bracelets in general. Fuxxin pin and collar in this day and age?!?!?! At least its titanium I guess. The cut up, inner dial, had a center hole for an NH35 movement. I enlarged it slightly, so it would fit snug on the gmt pinion, where normally, a 4th hand would be. I am having a problem tho. The cut dial is too thick. I have to thin it down some. It's not seating too well. If I push it down all the way, it drags on the green dial. If I lift it some, it pops off. It will work. I just have to make some adjustments. It is pretty eye catching tho. |
