Having not ever brewed a beer that I consider to be good, I've mostly lost interest in homebrewing. I was going thru the garage and found a few bottles from the early days and thought I would try them. Bottle #1: I have no idea what it was, but probably the SMASH from 06/25/2024. It was over-carbonated and overflowed when I opened it, but first impressions were that it tasted like a lambic and as I got further into it, more like a light Belgian ale. Not too bad! The last time I tried this one, I hated it. Bottle #2: This is a Barleywine I brewed on 09/29/2024. I actually had one of these this weekend and it was surprisingly good! Better than some Barleywines I've had at really good breweries. That's more a reflection of them brewing a dog, rather than me brewing a good one. Bottle #3: Another bottle of the Barleywine. Taste is there, but this one is way under-carbonated, compared to the one yesterday. I'm still impressed that it tastes this good. 8.3% ABV Barleywine Attached File |
