I have dodge 2500 steel rims for it and tires selected. No more split rims and run flats. Pain to deal with. |

With the tires on and the springs being completely redone with new shocks the vehicle rides about 6" higher. Before with the worn out shocks and flat springs Attached File After Attached File I might even be able to squeeze some slightly bigger tires on it. I plan on repainting it once the vehicle is up and running. Roland by July, BRDM by the end of the year. And I'm already thinking about getting a 3rd vehicle A Jesterka, Peacekeeper, or maybe another BRDM or a Grenadier. Who knows. |

BRDM is more armored but has less room inside for people. Roland is more fun and easier to drive around. Roland can be driven solo and is really quick for 5 and a half tons. Kingpin kit arrived, replacement tie rod bar ordered. Had some interesting discussions earlier with the Fabricator (Sky's offroad in Oregon). I managed to find the factory tie rod bar is from a Dodge w600 and available on ebay easily for about 50$ less than what I paid for the fabricated bar. The Tierod bar is a medium duty unit and the fab shop had a cow when they saw the size. The tie rods are also way, way overbuilt and made for a truck that can weigh up to 22k. The roland will weigh up to 10.8k, tops. Another factor is the vehicle is rear engined so a lot of the weight is over the rear axles. We ended up going with 1 ton GM tie rod ends which will suffice and work. Attached File |

Attached File Attached File Definitely not encouraging. The periscope channels are so corroded and pitted the periscopes are not sliding in freely. I guess that's what happens when decades of water sits and just corrodes steel. Attached File The Instrument panel is cleaner, however. |
