        One rim 90% cleaned up. There are some spots on The inside of the rim that need to get cleaned up which the grinder can’t reach. I might get a water blasting kit and use a pressure washer to clean those areas up. I opted for the original blue colors since that’s what the original rims were painted. This Monday the goals are to remove the front leaf springs, yank the gas tank, redo the lines, install the air filter, and get the rims from the tire shop. Tuesday do the brakes (new shoes, hardware), drop the springs off at champion spring |

With the radiator, hood, and radiator shroud removed I can access the rear of the engine bay hull for cleaning. It's very, very nasty. Had to unbolt some wire and fuel line brackets but cleaned it mostly up. The rain cut it short. Didn't take pics. Will later. |

So with all my research there are roughly 5 Rolands in the USA. One somewhere in the midwest that was converted to a SDKFZ German WW2 lookalike. One in South Texas painted in Berlin brigade pattern. 2 in Michigan still with the seller of mine. 1 in North Texas-mine. Once I am done I'll have the nicest roland in the USA. By nicest I mean the most mechanically sound and cosmetically decent (my paint job is atrocious). |

Tires. So I tried a 37x12.50R17. Gonna be a tight fit. Could be clearance issues with that big of a tire. Settled on a 35x10.50R17. might be a little too small and look dopey BUT it will fit without any spacers (Yah me) and will handle the load. Options: 35X10.50R17 Predator New Mutant X-AT AT A/T All Terrain Load E 10 Ply cost effective, good weight handling 35x10.50R17 Super Swampers -super expensive, 650$ a tire, very aggressive off road pattern |

         One rim down, 4 more to go. Need to pick up the other 4 from the tire shop and get started on them. My experiment into wet blasting didn't work out so well. I think it was because the sand was too wet. Needs to be drier. |

Everything looks great! Except for the fuel line. I don't know if it's the angle, but it looks as if the rubber fuel line is contacting the corner of the structure. If that's the case, every time the engine moves, that line will be sawing against the structure. It might take a long time to do it, but it's best to play it safe and re-route the line a little, maybe by bending the copper line lower and making a more direct shot to the engine. If it's just an illusion, keep moving ahead!

Going to go with these tires Gets us on the road sooner. My local tire shop has been fantastic and they will put them on for me. I might slap the original rims and tires on, drive down there, and they can mount/install them all. |

   When the vehicles were in service the Greeks cut holes in the top of the hull for the addition of Motorola radio antennas. I’m not doing this with mine, only using either bolt on or magnetic mount antennas. So I’ll weld these on later. |

Radiator back from the shop It had a crack in the body by the top left mount. Welded, flushed, and painted    Wiring pulled to replace the conduit since it had rusted through.  |

I've still been working on stuff on it, just not as much since I've been gone for most of june on my 2 weeks of Annual training. I have the new rear brake drums. The front ones are a bit harder to find and are possible off a mid 60s ford or international truck. I might just clean them up with a grinder since they aren't too bad, just the leaking brake fluid ate away at the paint. |
