Iran's IRGC announced that Brigadier General Hossein Zarifi of the IRGC Ground Forces, commander of the Saravan Sajjad Operational Headquarters, was killed during an operation against an armed group in Saravan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran. The IRGC said the operation also killed five wanted militants, resulted in the arrest of several others, and led to the seizure of weapons and ammunition.

That part of the world is called Baluchistan and has an ethnic group, called the Baluch, that was conquered and then split into parts of Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Every couple decades they try and get independence and blow up a bunch of stuff. This has been going on for a long time and the local governments despise them. They are just typical Islamic shitheads that want to be in charge though, not based freedom fighters. I guess we are arming them now to fight Iran. That will certainly make Pakistan happy. Edit: Northwest Iran has Kurds. Similar situation with that ethnic group, but when we tried arming the Iranian Kurds, the Kurds in Iraq that are supposed to be our allies stole the weapons instead of delivering them to the Iranian Kurds. I am guessing that is a major reason we are pulling out of Erbil, since one of the reasons we kept that base open was to protect the Kurds from the Iraqis and Turks. |
