Went down a youtube rabbit hole on derailments. I was watching one where a few boxcars had derailed and were lying bunched up across the tracks. The cleanup crew brought a couple of these things in not sure what they are called? I assumed they would use a regular crane to lift the boxcars back up but the video cut off before they got that far. These were from a company called RJ Corman the derailment was S.W Ohio. Looks like a bunch of squatty torque could be applied  Attached File |
There were these two fellars standin' on a bridge, a-goin' to the bathroom. One fellar said, "The water's cold" and the other fellar said, "The water's deep". I believe one fella come from Arkansas. Get it?

Hulchers does a lot of work in this area along with RJ Corman. Hulcher have a lot of Cat equipment including the side boom pipelayers. I have worked on a few over the years, They keep them in great shape and ready to roll out as soon as the call comes. The pipelayers are pretty strong and can lift over 200,000 lbs so are perfect for lifting the locomotive with one on each corner.

I see them convoy on the interstates in NE Ohio and PA fairly often. Still a lot of railroads in the area and shit happens. They have crews and equipment staged in geographic areas. I don't know how many or how large the areas are, but they get there pretty fast when needed. I imagine they charge accordingly. Still probably cheaper than the railroads having their own wreck crews like they did in the past. |

And from everything I have read was a dam good guy who took care of his workers. One story I read about was when one of his workers had their house burn down, he called his personal secretary and told her to get a double wide out to the workers property and set up for the family and that it needed to be done yesterday |
