Just getting back into woodworking and starting small. Made five of these out of hickory and walnut. Donated this one to our silent auction this weekend and it sold for $85 with all proceeds going to youth groups. Next up I think is a charcuterie board.

My buddy had agreed to make them for his former boss then decided that he didn't have the time so he asked me to help. We cut the cedar on his sawmill then I did the jointing, planing, and sanding. He helped with the glue up and finish. Still have a table top to build for the same guy. First money I've made woodworking. |

I think the mantle would have looked better being 3/4” longer on either side too, but understandable with the transition to panel right there. Something would have to get notched. Did you hide a tongue/groove, biscuits, pocket screws, anything in the joinery? Or just straight up glue? What did they use to actually affix the pieces in their place? |

My buddy gave me a set of measurements and I built to that. I haven't been to the house myself so don't know what was done after my buddy delivered them. Just put together with dowels and glue. I am an absolute amateur and took this on as much for the learning experience as anything. I have a lot to learn and don't have anyone to teach me so I watch a lot of YouTube videos and figure it out as I go. I did router the bottom side of the bar top about a foot from each end and put c-channel to help keep it flat. Attached File What did they use to actually affix the pieces in their place? |

Sawed up some more cedar on the sawmill today for the next project. Attached File I'll be kinda glad when this is finished so I can get back to tinkering around with my own projects and learning how to do more stuff.

Lacquer. gorilla glue for the dovetail, titebond for the rest. They are almost done. Off to the laser engraver on Wednesday for a logo to be burned on them. Cutting boards... hard maple and walnut. no finish yet. All end grain. Titebond 3 Lids... various. I'll post more on those when I get some finish on them. Lots of sanding to do yet. |

I'm testing finishes for a rifle build. This is maple with iron nitrate stain with one coat of Tried & True varnish. I thought the holographic effect was neat.  Testing iron nitrate on maple |

Spanish cedar. 1/4” thick. Attached File Not pictured… hygrometer. That was added prior to delivery. I went with a small digital unit that I found on Amazon. |

These are all over FB right now. Everyone is making them. They'll be nice on the porch for Halloween. I batched enough plywood to do about eight of these. Plywood form Lowes is shit. They had 4x4 3/8" marked down to $18 last week. Based on the quality I still overpaid.  I was so anxious to put together the first one I forgot to hit it with the sander first. I'm not too good with the scroll saw. Trying to talk my wife into one of these small CNCs. Genmitsu  |

My wife wanted a table with a lip around it to stop crayons and stuff from rolling off. I'm going to paint it the same color as the stool I posted a few weeks ago. It's built with scrap pine I had laying around. Next I'm going to make two chairs for it. Once those are done I can finally get into building some furniture for myself. Attached File |

Thanks. Here are a couple with the monitors working. The first guy beats his head on the window. The girl lights the cell on fire. I bought a few cheap digital media players that will run the videos in continual loops. They make it much easier then using a computer behind each one. I’ll add some brushed silver paint and rust over the next few days to make them look “used.” Attached File Attached File |

Figured you guys might like to see the finished product. They are done and ready for placement in the haunted house. The light above is a flickering light and is just there for the effect right now. It will be moved into the ceiling of the asylum. There are two doors, a left and right, not for any particular reason though. Not shown is a white strobe light that flickers behind the bottom vent panel. Each door is self contained with the monitor, light, media player and speaker, which sits on a shelf right behind the upper drain opening with brown crud flowing out. I haven't turned wood since high school 48 years ago. I bought a midi turning lathe and after spending some time on technique with scrap pine 2x2 I finally decided to try making something useful. Here's my first attempt in the making of a Walnut beer tap handle for the dark beer tap on my kegerator, I'm going to make a light wood one for my pilsner tap also. I learned a few things, like more head space material near the chuck... Attached File OK, I have finished two of them. I like the profile of the one on the right (Alder) more than the one on the left (Walnut). I think I'll try to make another Walnut handle to match the Alder handle. Attached File |

I had some left over scraps of Walnut and Alder from my beer tap handles, so I decided to try a hollow globe Christmas ornament. It's not perfect, but then again it was my first try, the entire ornament only weighs 1/2 ounce. I think I'll make more of these and give them away. Attached File |

I just started the finishing work for our dining table. Project started mid July, with a target of Thanksgiving dinner. All lumber was 8/4 2S, barely...lol, lots of planing and trueing. Select Alder, top is 1-3/4 thick, 42" x 8ft. Just cleaned up after glueing. Attached File Breadboard ends going on. Glue is only on center 3 pins. Outer holes in breadboards are elongated to allow for top movement. Attached File Dry fit.Attached File Ready for stain. Attached File Table frame. Long center bridge is through mortise/tenon with draw bore pins. Attached File |

Top after stain. It's wet and a tad blotchy, but it lightened and evened out as it dryed. Attached File I'm doing the topcoats over the next few days. I'll update after I rub everything out. Finish is General Finishes, both the Carbon Grey gel stain, and the Arm-R-Seal topcoat. I'll hand rub the finish out with soapy water and synthetic 0000 pad. First spring project will be a bench with 3 trestles that will be a mini version of the table, 7 feet long. |
