So I've been "building" this for the last 3 or so years. 5.3 from a 99 Silverado (I got talked into it instead of a SBC) Im an old guy who is old school and resist change. Decided to do what every other goober does and turbo it. I really have no clue what I'm doing but.......oh well. A quick video I shot today. Sorry about the glare. After that, I figured I better have a back half so, I bought one and then realized I would need at least a main hoop to support it.

At first, the only thing done to the engine was a Texas Speed 228R cam and valve springs.
After I put the ladder bars on I went 8.5 in the 1/8th mile. No 1/4 mile tracks close. I never had it "tuned" or got it on the dyno. I pretty much tuned it myself with HP Tuners. I took the truck up to Thunder Valley in a South Dakota for Memorial Day and Labor Day. Ran in the high 12's at about 105 MPH. |

I've been good! I much prefer drag racing because no matter what
your E.T. is, you can still win bracket racing. I used to live a few miles from National Trail Raceway in central Ohio and it was my home track. I raced a 1968 Mustang for a while, then a 1973 Gran Torino Sport and finally my 1983 Ranger with a 289. Had a lot of fun even though I wasn't the fastest on the track. I won quite a few rounds on reaction time alone.

I havent touched the radios in a few years
Sold the Icom that I was doing the packet on but still have my other radio. I forget offhand what it is
Still have the TNC and other stuff as well, just no computer to run it. And I took down my antenna not too long ago |

I know enough to be dangerous and probably get frustrated. I've been working on bicycles a lot lately and even those can be... challenging. Ive been tinkering on cars for about 40 years. Will it fit in the garage?
Back in the day I wanted to build an altered for the Econo class and run a 300 cid Ford inline 6. There were a couple guys in my AO at the time that built them and had great fun but they were above my pay grade.
