here's some inspiration from another member.  A little out of my price range as what you see up there was within $500

I just recently got back into PC gaming, have been playing my PS3 for a while now.

I realized again why I like PC gaming so much more.

if i build me another one, i will go with an amd cpu and ati graphics build like that one in the link. last one i had was the nvidia sli, dont think i will build one of them ever again cause it was very costly and a headache but it was awesome once i got it going.

thats all i play anymore also, the ps3 here gets a lot of attention. i really miss the fps on the pc, was a lot funner to play on the pc with lots of mods too.

Here is what used to be my gaming rig.
Its has a Core 2 Quad Q9600 with a abit mother board and nvidia 9800 pro video card.

My daughters computer crapped out so I gave it to her.  Now the most intensive thing it performs is farmville on face book.
(what a waist)

I have built a new gaming PC ever couple years for the last 10 years or so.  after I gave her my computer, I bought a notebook and a I xbox slim

Only issue I'd ever have with buying a really expensive laptop is it really can't be upgraded that easily since the video card is embedded with the motherboard.

Not that I don't use laptops.  My life and career is on my work laptop, but hey, work gives me a new one every few years.

That's not the case with the Alienware laptops and a few others.

I have a 3 year old mALX Alienware with dual 7950's and I know that they can be updated. I don't know if there's a mobile card that I still want to use though. I also don't like hauling the big bastard around. My mALX has a 19" screen and the laptop in it's backpack with it's MASSIVE power brick probably weighs close to 30-35 pounds when all packed up. That's alot of machine to try and haul through an airport and security.

It's a shame they quit making the mALX's after Dell bought them out. I tried pricing out an m17x, and for what I really wanted, it would cost as much as an mALX would probably go for, but the screen is only 17". I love my Alienware laptop, but I'm going to hold off on buying one from them for a while. I have 3 buddies who have gotten newer Alienwares, and they've all had some kind of failure or serious issue. Two of them have had replacements sent because they couldn't get straightened out, and they are having problems with their replacements.

Got a new computer for Christmas.  The person who gave it to me assembled it himself.  It wasn't a prebuilt machine from the factory.  It's got an Antec case, motherboard is an ASUS M4A88T-V EVO/USB3, integrated HD audio, 4GB of ddr3 10700 G.Skil RAM, Windows Premium Home 7, Acer H233H HD monitor running at 1920x1080, ASUS EAH5770 CuCore/2DI/1GD5/A videocard, and a AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor running at 3.0GHz (I've never owned a quad core machine before and this thing is blazing fast).  Oh, I almost forgot, I have a 1TB harddrive, a Seagate ST3100528AS, ATA connection, Razer Carcharias Headset and a Logitech MX518 gaming mouse

It's stock for now. It's incredible at keeping temps down. I can run anything I want, for as long as I want, and the temp is still cooler than the stock cooler at an idle. It also fits really well. I have zero interference with anything on an EVGA X58 3X SLI board. My case also helps. I have tons of room for internals, and the airflow is fantastic.

I honestly believe if I wanted to drop temps anymore, I'd have to watercool it.

I recently made some upgrades/additions. I no longer run 3x 1280x1024 monitors (3840x1024 with Matrox DTH2GO), instead I am connected to two displays. The primary one is the new 24" BENQ LED 120Hz 1920x1080 monitor, that I got last week. The secondary one is my 37" Philips 1920x1080 HDTV.

I also upgraded from 6GB (3x2GB) of Geil DDR3 to 24GB (6x4GB) of Kingston DDR3, as it was on offer. To top it all off, I also bought a 3TB external Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex drive.
