I am not aware of any exemptions for dogs used for police work in any livestock protection laws. Edited to clarify. It would be legal to shoot to the dog doing the harassing - not the livestock. |

Common legal principle and common law apply… officers are generally insulated from trespass charges in the performance of their duties under color of law. No doubt there is a ton of case law to support that position as well. I’m not saying that shooting the donkey was a good shoot(it was not IMO) but illegal trespassing is going to be a stretch. |
