What could be causing pitting in the bottom (inside) of my pressure canner? It’s a Graniteware, and I’m almost afraid to use it now. I’ve used it to can green beans, chicken, and chili for probably 8-10 years. The pitting doesn’t seem to just be in a ring where the canner basket contacts the bottom, it seems per random.

We have a water softener, but I do not have any pitting in my water bath canner. I always wash it out and dry it before putting it away.
