So I bought what looked like a nice K10. It got here and it still looked nice until you really started looking at it. So far in the last 7 days I've fired up the parts cannon from Summit Racing since its down the road a bit: Stripped out entire wiring harness- Replaced with American Autowire setup. This was recommended over the painless unit by a guy that does some legit hot rod stuff. I have zero complaints about this harness. Stripped out heater core stuff and replaced with Vintage Air unit, Still gotta track down a compressor and mount a few more parts Stripped the interior out and installed a pre cut Flatline barrier kit- Sound/Heat Instead of reusing the original gauge setup I have installed a Dakota Digital setup. Rebuilt the entire steering column with new parts- Blinkers and the horn work now  New Tailights, and lighting all the way around didn't need and could have reused the old stuff but at this stage might as well go with new. New Grille- still waiting on parts to trim it from LMC Spent $400 at LMC on fasteners and missing screws. Supposed to be here soon so will put the small child on point to putting in screws everywhere. Papered in the last 150 miles- Trans rebuild, new transfer case, and supposedly GM 350 long block. So an update on this. The motor that came in this truck is a lipstick on a pig situation. In under 400 miles I seem to have killed it. I sourced an in stock engine from summit and once I had all the stuff on the ground my daughter and I started the swap last weekend. We pulled the old motor out and by Sunday night had the new one bolted to the torque converter and to the motor mounts. I’ve been busy all week so didn’t have a chance to get back to it till last night. Started installing the Sanden compressor for the AC as part of the put back and both sets of valve covers that came with the engine are too tall. Quick trip to summit today and hopefully I have the last of the pieces needed to get this thing running. So far since I bought it: New motor Installed Flatline sound deadening in the cab Rebuilt the steering column New wiring harness New lights Installed Vintage air system I called the shops that handle my fleet of trucks and out of 3 of them none wanted to take on this project.  One was completely honest and said he didn’t think the young kids he had working for him could handle a carbureted setup.  Failed To Load Title |
